Need some opinions.
Hey guys. I'm relatively new to neons and all and i own a 2001 SE. I was just wondering if I should sell it and try to get a newer model neon, or if I should keep it and try to make an SRT clone out of it. I currently go to college and dont have money for an SRT but can afford an 04 SXT that a friend is selling. Just thought I would ask.

Meh, if you want the srt for style, you can do so on your 01, if you want the srt power, you can do so on your 01 as well... if you like the 03+ styling better than the 01, than by all means, get the 04... personally, I prefer the 02 body style over all the styles. Also, how much you looking to spend on that sxt? cause last I seen SRT4's are only about 15-18k

The guy above me has a really nice looking 2gn. But aside from his and a handful of others, i can't stand the 00-05 fascias. Only the srt's.
Unless you can find your color, after paying for the parts and having them painted you might be looking at a little over a grand to have an entire srt body kit. Well, probably a lot more than that if you don't have paint hook ups.

For adding SRT power, the 03+ Neons will require less work, mainly less wiring. There are people out there that have swapped the SRT drivetrain into the 00-02 Neons successfully though. Diablo0 is the owner of 2GN and he did the SRT swap to an 02. He'd be able to clue you in on some of the installation differences.
One thing that I love about the SRT-swapped cars is that you don't get killed on insurance. To the insurance companies, it's just a plain jane Neon.
