So I am pissed
So I am pissed
My mom backed into my car today.... I just got home from dropping my girlfriend off and taking her car to detail it at my parents house. We a detached garage, and my neon was parked in the front of the house. So my mom started to back out and she was super careful around my girlfriends car, but then wasn't paying attention when got the where my car is. She broke off my passenger side mirror, and put tons of scratches in the door, and there a few spots where the clear coat is completely gone. I am a little bit angry because my car had no imperfections in it. Oh well......
I might have pics up later once I get working on the scratches to see if I can buff them out.
EDIT* How do you take the door panel piece off that hides the mirror screws?

Edited to make you happyMyNeonSaysHi wrote:This is a general 2nd gen question?
Ya she saw that I was pretty upset about the whole situation, and called the dealership to get the new mirror assembly ordered. Her SUV got the worst of it though. It is weird that my low car did so much damage to an Escape with huge tires!SlvrACR wrote:Tell insurance it got hit in a parking lot or make your mom fix it. I know my mom would have already called a shop to repaint mine.

To answer your question about the mirror, there are 4 screws, one or two on the bottom of door panel, one in the handle on the door, and one in the grip you use to close the door. The last two should have something covering em up, so remove those tiny panels. Now, if you do not have a panel popper, I suggest getting one, otherwise this step is gonna be hard and you WILL break the plastic pieces holding the door panel on. So use the panel popper and start shoving it between door and panel and pulling out carefully. They are all over, so be ready for a lot of work. Then lift up on door panel and move forward, then there is a linkage on the handle connected to an arm in the door, remove that and you are closer... if you have auto looks/windows, remove those connections and door panel is off... now look at where mirror is, there are 3 bolts... remove em.

Instead of taking of the complete door panel can I not just take off the cap at the top of the door?kc2002acr wrote:To answer your question about the mirror, there are 4 screws, one or two on the bottom of door panel, one in the handle on the door, and one in the grip you use to close the door.
