now, obviously it's terrible for your tires, but how bad?

I've been brushing up on it lately in parking lots and a few times on the street (with my neon)... mostly using the hand brake

i'd imagine that you can sh*t your tires pretty quickly?

Whatever your doing, its not drifting. Unless you are at your local hockey arena, you can not drift with a 100 hp fwd car. You are probably doing donuts. lol

i mean using the hand brake to break traction and swing the back end around when iI'm making turns, then holding down on the accelerator and completing the turn and continuing

Do you have a rear sway? You're acting like a moron either way, but there is no performance advantage or "coolness" factor to whipping out the back end. If you're swayless, the second that you come off the brakes and jump on the accelerator, you are pulling the car out of the skid, and not using the steering to control the drift, so you're just being an idiot wasting your tires and trying to look cool.

aight basically what I'm doing with it is turning while only having to slow down to about 40mph (or higher on a round turn). otherwise taking a sharp 90 or 180 degree turn would take a lot bigger turning radius. understand where i'm coming from?

the rear does sway out but the front end breaks traction too. as soon as the back starts to sway out i start to counter steer to keep the front end kinda pointing toward the way I want to go

Thats not a drift and I'm not being mean either. Thats a powerslide. If it hasn't happened already, your going to damage your shocks and rip your control arm bushings. Don't do that man untill you have a complete suspension overhaul.

nope thats not a drift, not even a powerslide, more like a wipeout. You basically need a rwd vehicle to drift, but i guess some can do it with awd.

I don't mean to start a fight or anything, but there is no such thing as FWD drifting, I've been following drifting since way before 3fast 3furious(or faster furiouser, whateva), since way b4 it became popular in the tuning magazines, b4 D1 came to the US and b4 Initial D, and FWD drifting has only been in question since it came to the US, kids in their civics and integras started trying to emulate what the they saw in the popular comics Initial D(that's as far back as I can trace it). Our brothers from the land of the rising sun(where drifting became so popular) don't have this argument, why?? because there is no argument, they have known for a long time what we here in the US are still trying to find out and fight against.

Without going any furher I'd like to quote what Whitey wrote about his wikipidia find:

Now please look at the first picture closely, and look even closer at the front wheels of the FWD car. Now let me quote again:

As you can see the front wheels point opposite to the turn until before the apex and then the wheels point straight to the exit of the turn therefore preventing the car from doing a drift.
"So I did half a drift" you might say, well actually not, what you did and will continue to do is called Induced Oversteer, a technique used by roadracers and autoXers(and please guys correct me if I got the name wrong).
I don't want to get into physics and crap like that, but if you want PLEASE research, the internet is your best friend and please stay away from ricer websites since absolutetly every single one of those guys can do full drifts tru whole turns and multiple sets of S turns in their civics and integras
Other than that keep destroying your tires, in a safely manner

can u show me that FWD u talking about, I just can't see it there

The only FWD cars that I see in that video are drag racing. Drifting cars shown: Skyline = RWD. 350Z = RWD. You can't see much on the few quick rear night shots, but they look like Toyota AE86's, which are RWD.
