What points do I need to test with my multimeter on the coil pack, and what resistance am I looking for to the terminals? Also the settings on the multimeter. Thanks

If I had any doubt myself, I'd just relace it with an MSD and be done with it.

You'd need some special one I believe I saw a guy testing one on a GM on TV once, he had the car hooked up to a laptop somehow. They're into the thousands of volts.

Again out of curiosity, why are you concerned about your coil?

To check the primary coils, set your multimeter to lowest ohm setting. The resistance of the primary coils should be: 0.45 - 0.65 ohms. Measure between the center and outside pins on the connector.

For the secondary coils, you'll want your meter in the 20k ohms range. The resistance should be 11,500 to 13,500 ohms.

According to Haynes...

Primary:
Steel towers 0.45 to 0.65 ohms
Brass towers 0.53 to 0.65 ohms

Secondary
Steel towers 11.5 to 13.5 k-ohms
Brass towers 10.9 to 14.7 k-ohms

I'm coming up to my 50,000 mile mark, and I'm pretty much checking everything out. Next friday I'm doing pretty much all of my tune up plan which I had a topic about. Better safe then sorry.
