well my first foray into cf hoods didn't go so well. it arrived today with 2 corners of the box busted and the corresponding 2 top corners of the hood broken as well. ups is going to pick it back up and review the damage. they will then issue a claim. hooray, mor waiting!!! sometimes living a good life just doesn't pay!!!:salute:

Been there. Here's my kicker though... I bought a JSP (formally XR8 Lidds) hood from a company in Canada. They shipped it via a freight company and no one was home. They dumped it off in the driveway, no one signed for it and it sat there until I got home from work. When tracking it online it still said it was in transit. Opened the box up and sure enough both corners were damaged really bad and the corners of the box were also damaged. I called the company I bought the hood from and they were nice but insisted that I call the freight company and tell them. Called the freight company and they're telling me I don't even have it yet when I'm looking right at the hood infront of me lol. In the end they sent me a check for the cost of the hood minus the shipping costs so I got a pretty decent JSP CF hood for $200 or so bucks that I should be able to fix the corners lol. Came out pretty well considering it was a good $800-900 hood at the time with the exchange rate. Put the hood on and it fits very well too, just the corners are busted up :(

well pics have been added. ups requires that the package be picked up and examined by their adjuster. i don't know what happens to the hood after that. seems a waste as i'd like to have the hood for tinkering with at this point to see if it could be repaired and painted flat black. big problem you can see in the 2nd photo is that the skeleton is actually broken. that's at the hinge point, so the backbone of the hood would have to be repaired somehow. oh well. we'll wait and see what happens.

:shock: That is carelessness in its most text book form. Sorry to hear. But remember that good things come to those who wait...or should come to.

I want a new hood, carbon fiber or stock srt, but this is why i'm willing to wait untill I find one in a driveable distance so I can pick it up.

Wow... I worked on a shipping and recieving dock for well over two and a half years and I used to see stuff like this from UPS all the time. We would get cases full of glasses shipped to us and fragile would be on every side of the box, and the things would sound like a box of nails when I got em. The good thing is though, UPS will take care of it for ya.

sorry fellas, no pics on the computer here. the only pics i have of the car are on the home computer and it doesn't like to sync up with imagecave for image downloading. no worries though. my car isn't swanky like krack's. just a silver 02 with an srt front swap and flik artic 17's. i'll clean her up and post pics as the only things left to do before i start her up are;
1. exhaust fab
2. fill tranny with fluid
3. finish wiring exhaust cutout and remote bottle opener.
4. reattach front bumper and driving lights.

that looks pretty tempting, but on your car it would leave a gap, right? only thing that turns me off is it's not oem replica. can anyone vouch for the quality of kaminari CF?

I dunno why people use anything other than super-reliable Photobucket.

Go sign up at http://www.photobucket.com and never stress over this again. I've been on there for three years now and I never give a second thought to hosting pics.

Sorry to see about what happened to your hood. I was lucky I guess, my hood was manufactured and sold an hour away from here, and they let me pick up with my truck, so I got to inspect the product on the spot, got to pick out and buy a hoodpin kit, and saved on shipping. And the hood cost me $350.

I hope you get something worked out. I love my CF hood,.
