Hey all, already talked to one person about installing my Adam K. odp (not udp, I got one of them on already!) - it goes on the alternator... so my question is, anyone else install one fo these and if so how did you do it? I have very little time, so I always try to get it close to right the first time and avoid all the snags by planning as best I can, so any advice will help.

Also, my dad says that there is a tool that they use to pull the pulley off the alternator, but I can not find one, anyone have any ideas?

A nice how too would be grrrrrreat!

Gracias!

Use an air impact or find somebody who has one to take the nut off for you, then if it doesn't come off use a pinion/ pulley puller of some sort (auto stores usually rent them out) then put an old belt (doesn't have to be right one, just use to protect the pulley) around the pulley and use a torque wrench to tighten the bolt and have somebody else or a vice hold the pulley with the belt on it.

I read that the nut/bolt comes right off, so is there no need to hold the pulley in place, or is it stuck to the pulley, so turning the nut/bolt will turn the pulley??? I ams o confused... And is it a nut, or a bolt?

the pulley is held on with a nut and lock washer. if you have an impact you should be able hold the pulley in one hand (recommend a glove) and undo the nut. then if the pulley doesn't slide off you will need to use the pulley puller .

 Don't have to hold the pulley with anything. That's the beauty of the impact gun. If you try to hold it by hand you're gonna loose. The nut will come right off. Granted everthing will be turning, but don't risk hurting yourself! Use the impact to reinstall also. I've never had any problems.
EDIT: If you have an air ratchet it won't work. Must be an impact gun. Either air or electric.

Yup! The vibration will loosen the pulley if it is stuck at all.

Hey I have an ODP and have done a swap before. dont be suprised if you have to get a puller to get off the stock pully. On my brand new alternator I hused an impact and took off the nut. and I didnt have a pully so I just Hacked off the stock pully with a grinder and then slid the ODP pully right on.

The alternator I took my ODP pully off it came of by hand but the stock pully no way!
