Alright so I looked up the code, just means the pcm was reset 50 miles ago, no big deal but now It seams that Im bogging horrible at WOT and the car's oil light is comming on when I go into neutral and twice on the way home it straight up died when we were at a stop.

I went ahead and put on the OEM plug wires again to see if that would help, it did nothing. Im going to put the oem coil back back on and see if that did somthing. Last night after the install it ran really good and today it was fine until I got off work.

Any idea's guys? Ive filled her up with nothing but 93 Oct since I got her. Also shes running NGK Iridium plugs, I faintly remember hearing that neons were very picky on plugs...

Let me know what you think.

if the oil light came on.... and you already checked the level, your probably not getting enough oil pressure. maybe time for a new pump.

The pumps are notorious for failures.

Considering the shape the underhood was in, it may be a possibility. Its not a quick fix by any means, but its not a horrible repair to do by yourself.

I know in my service manual it says if the oil light turns on to have it serviced immediately. Not very bright to drive it around with that light on. I am guessing the oil pump is just about shot.

Call up a few local shops and get an estimate on a oil pump for your Neon. I am not sure if they make aftermarket oil pumps for our cars like the Walboro fuel pumps which are way cheaper than OEM and better.

Why not make sure the oil pressure switch isn't bad before you talk about replacing the pump? I'd pickup a new switch or install an oil pressure gauge first to make sure the stock switch isn't bad.

Tee a gauge into the block and see if the pump is actually doing its job. If not, new oil pump. If it is, test the switch. If the switch works, you've got a break in the wire somewhere.

I dropped it off at a shop in quincy and just got a call back. The Noise I was hearing is a Rod Knocking. He said the computer was showing the Timing was retarded by -5 and the harder the car ran the more the timing was being pulled. They said that they doubted the Oil pump was working right but they also didn't think that it would solve anything to fix...

They said that I'm looking at a new motor... Well Aside from being pissed as hell, what else could this be?

As I asked another member.......
Did you get the car certified? 8/80K drivetrain warranty?
If not, Do as diablo mentioned.. get an oil pressure gauge installed or atleast hooked up, see what your readings are....
Mine # idle with 5-20W is 30psi....our oil pressure switches are designed to trigger at roughly 7psi?, id say get another switch first or install an oil pressure gauge to find out more details!

I'm having wierd oil pressure issues right now too. I have 4.5 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic and sit right at 8 psi at idle. The melling m190 is suppose to help. Will probably be picking up one of these in the near future.

If a rod bearing went the motor is done. It needs to be rebuilt/ replaced.

Well After talking with my Brother in law, He agrees with the above, Rod Bearing is shot and the motor is screwed...

He said I should take the dealership to court and get them to pay for it, however the car came with NO expressed warranty and was sold AS IS. I'm going to talk it over with a Lawyer as soon as I can to see if there really is anything that can be done, but this doesn't solve the problem of me being without my car.

Here is my plan, I'll have a $5000 budget to do a SRT4 motor swap. I'm going to have to Sell my Miata though, I have so much debt and the Geek Squad doesn't pay well enough to take a loan out. Ill be doing some research on the swap and searching ebay for the motor. Any help or advise would be great!

you should wait on the modding untill you talk to the lawyer. If you do end up taking the dealership to court and you have a modded engine it's not going to work out too well for yah
