Is there a difference is temp. sensors with model years...?

I would like to know if 01's/02's have a different temp sensor than 03+'s. Reason is that I am buying an srt-4 gauge cluster and the temp gauge does not work on the persons car that I am buying it from. According to him, the gauge just reads cold all the time in his car, although it responds when you do the cluster reset by holding in the push button when you turn the key to "ON." He also told me it worked fine in a different car that had a SRT motor swap in it. I'm thinking the cars might have a different sending signal to the cluster, or maybe it's just his car that isn't receiving the correct signal. Any ideas? I'm still buying it to check it out.

Mopar Master lists the sensor for 1995-2005 Neon...so my guess is no. Edit: unless SRT's are different? unfortunately they don't give PN#s

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.
