arghh!

Post by Panhead » Sun Oct 14, 2007 3:54 pm

it was during the end of summer when i got my mopar lip kit painted and installed. now im having problems with the rear lip. i followed proper instructions when i installed the rear lip and used the alcohol pad to clean the bumper where the tape would be. then i pressed the lip against the bumper so it would stick good. not even 2 weeks past since i installed the rear lip and the 2 sided tape is already coming off. im uber pissed. anybody know how to fix this? i already have 2 huge gaps between the lip and bumper. i hate 2 sided tape, its one of the shittiest products i ever used!

Did you drill and bolt it as well as the two sided tape?

I know mine pulled away slightly, but the bolts held it on just fine.

yeah, mine pulled away ever so slightly as well. we're talkin like not even 1/8". but i bet you the adhesion issues are because the kits were sitting around for such a long time

i did that. drilled the holes and everything. the reason they 2 sided tape is there is to close all the small gaps. seems like this tape came from china.

did you apply heat to the adhesive as you installed the lip? that's what th body shop did to mine and it never puffed out or sagged a bit for the 3 months i had it, including thru the summer of 15-20 straight days of 90*+ weather, and hundred mile an hour speeds.

"seems like this tape came from china."
It's all that lead, the weight of it is pulling the tape off!
You could try some side moldig adhesive, but you still have to reinstall the kit basically to do it. Still sucks, tho. I'm not a fan of sticky stuff either. When it starts to come loose it still sticks - to dirt and small debris, which rubs against the paint, blah, blah, and so on
