Post by teamliviD » Tue Oct 16, 2007 10:58 am

Does anyone know how much the ECU advanes the timing on the Magnum motors? I'll finialy be boosting this weekend and would like to know how much timing to pull using my Crane Timing Retard controller. It's been 3 years and lots of money......LOTS OF MONEY and I dont want to blow this motor. If I do the wife will make me get rid of it. Thanks for the help!!

Damn, unless someone has info from DCX they don't even put that spec in the factory service manual other than the lame "timing is controlled by the PCM". Maybe someone has a dyno run where that info was recorded, even then it would only be for those conditions, but at least it would give some idea of the range.
EDIT: Maybe someone that work at a dealer might know they would have to have a spec. for diagnostics I would think. Unless it just says timing out of range replace pcm.

When I was playing with my car a few months back, in neutral the DRB showed as high as 50deg advance when I revved the motor

The DRBIII is the chrysler diagnostic tool. it monitors and diagnoses all systems in the car.

I was sceptical at first on the readings, but when I would hold the throttle at 3k rpm and burped the throttle a couple times, the advance was hovering in the 40deg + to max of 50deg range...
Probably why we need to run premium fuel in the r/t motor......
