P0572
Okay, today on my way to school, I turned left at this red light like I always do but this time my CEL came on. When I got to school I did the key dance and got code P0572 which stats "BRAKE SWITCH #1 CIRCUIT LOW" I search Google and could not find any information but it was also tied into the cruise control also but I don't have cruise control. I have called the dealer and they want me to bring it in but I don't have the time right now to take it is. I called two different dealers the first one thought it was funny that my light was on and I didn't have cruise control and the other didn't know nothing about it, they went on about an O2 sensor or something totally different from what I told them. So thats why I came here because I uselly can find all the answer I need here but this one I couldn't find. I searched for an hour at school during my break and then here at home. If anyone can help that would be really helpful!

send BlackRoseRacing a PM, he is the man when it comes to this stuff.
You probably won't get a response today, but probably about 6a tomorrow morning (EST) you will have one. He is really fast about getting info to people.
Give him your Year/Make/Model/Engine and the code.

Have you checked the switch thats located down at your brake pedal? Diagnostic manuals want you to check resistance..
Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Brake Lamp Switch and disconnect the harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the (Z1) Ground circuit terminal and the (K29)
Brake Switch Signal terminal at the Brake Lamp Switch.
Apply and release the brake pedal plunger while monitoring the ohmmeter.
Does the resistance change from below 5.0 ohms to an open circuit?
If Yes - Go To Next Step
If No - Replace the Brake Lamp Switch.
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (K29) Brake Switch Signal circuit in
the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
If Yes - Repair the short to ground in the (K29) Brake Switch Signal
circuit.
If No - Go To Next Step
NOTE: Before continuing, check the PCM harness connector terminals for
corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay
particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance
with the Service Information.

When did you purchase the car?
the bumper to bumper was 3 years/36000, the powertrain was 7/70000 miles. unless you got the extended warranty.

i think the 7/70 stopped in 05 or 06. all 04 model year cars should have the 7/70, excluding diesels and SRT's

Went to the dealer today and they told me it was the switch inside the car and it's going to cost 100bucks to replace. They rest the CEL and it isn't on any more so I don't know if it was a error in the system or what but I will get it changed out, might do it myself unless I can get it covered under my Warranty that I have on the car. Just thought I would let everyone know!
