So after my car broke down I went to some dealerships, so far I have these 2 options. Which one is the best:
Neon 05 SXT Aqua Blue / ATX / 40K miles / Salvage title
$4500
or
Neon 02 SE Black / ATX / 70K miles / clean title
$4900

i'd say 05, depending on why it has a salvage title and if they waranty the work that fixed the cause of the salvage title

well i don't know about OR... but in WI a dealer can sell a salvaged title only if everything is taken care of properly and it passes some "good as new" type test

Thanks for the opinion guys, but right now I can't drive or learn 5spd. And I think I will stick with the 05 SXT. Well it is a salvage title, because it was a rear end collision, but they fixed it and runs very good. But still I have to save up some money till then, my father's friend gave me accord 98 ex vtec, which I rally hate, but have to drive

you really don't want a salvage title.
Also you could learn stick very quickly. It isn't that hard.

May be, but my father is always busy and stuff and he can't...so there's nobody who can teach me

Well... when you move up to WA, I could help you out with that.

I sold my '05 SXT to a young lady who had never driven a stick- taught her how to drive it in a Sears parking lot. You'll be surprised at how quickly you'll pick up on it once you start.

Your father can't take 15 minutes to show you how to ease the clutch pedal out? I learned in three blocks worth of driving, and then borrowed that car from my friend for the next three days.
Honestly people who dont drive stick think it's some complicated thing. It's not. Just make sure you learn on a LEVEL, FLAT ROAD.
1. With left foot, push in clutch pedal all the way and hold it.
2. While holding clutch pedal, start car. If the shifter is in neutral, you can then back off the cluch pedal. If it's in a gear, put it in neutral and back off the pedal.
3. Push and hold the cluch pedal back in while holding the brake pedal with your right foot.
4. While doing #3, put the shifter in 1st.
5. Release the brake pedal, and SLOWLY, slowly, back off of the clutch pedal. You will begin to feel the clutch grab, and the car will begin to inch forward.
6. By the time you've completely lifted your left foot off of the clutch pedal slowly, the engine idle along with first gear should be moving the car slowly forward.
7. Push on the gas pedal now a bit, and feel it go.
8. If you're going to hit the brakes, FIRST push the clutch pedal in all the way, THEN apply the brakes, otherwise you will stall the car out as soon as it gets close to stopping. If you do stall, go back to Step 1 and repeat.
9. To shift, while moving, let off the gas, push in the clutch pedal, change to the next gear, let off the clutch pedal, and give it gas.
If I were selling someone an MTX car and they didn;'t know how to drive it, I'd take them around the block for a half hour or so and teach them. Literally, that's all you'll need to get you down the road.
Speed shifting, toe and heel, and launching hard are things you just figure out on your own after awhile.
I was given my ATX Neon, but I completely agree with these guys, if you can find an MTX neon you will NOT hate yourself later like many of us automatic tranny owners hate ourselves now.

regardless of your transmision choices, DO NOT buy a salvage from a dealership even if it has low miles. You are just waiting for the worms to come out of that can.
I see used neons all the time for cheap. Its best if you take your time and look around. You are bound to find the right car.

Kevo said it... NEVER buy a salvage title for a daily driver. If it's a car that you're just going to mess around with and possibly make into a project car or something like that, then salvage title doesn't really matter. For a daily driver that you're going to constantly depend on, I would stay way away from that one. Plus, look at the price... it's a bit too good to be true.

Hehe. Thanks man.
Um, I know that mtx is better than the atx, but still I have to buy Neon with atx, because I need a car you know. Later on I will buy a Neon with mtx.

Guys what do you think of this one?
http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/car/533875230.html
it has 115K miles is it good deal?
Posted: Thu Jan 10, 2008 5:17 pm
by jonnymopar
Offer them a grand even and see if they bite. And naturally, go check it out yourself before anything. Looks like a good deal. Don't forget to ask if it's had the water pump and timing belt replaced. That's high miles for the stock ones, but if they've been recently replaced, you should be set.

Need you opinion for this one:
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/541498059.html
...I called the guy and he told me that the car has a clean title, good tires, etc. But anyways still something bothers me. The price is really low for this year, right?

I'm I the only one who thinks this is a no brainer?
Clean title
70k (driven a lot less than the 05 in terms of mileage per year)
Clean title
02 front end MUCH better looking
Clean title
ECU more forgiving with mods
Clean title
Black is the coolest color
Clean title
Am I forgetting anything?

I check it on carfax and it does have a clean title.
