If I were to get this guy down to 8,000 dollars (I'm basically there already after talking to him), is this a good deal or no?

If anything, you would want to see pics of the damage before hand, and compare the underhood then to now. You'll also want to take it for a test drive. Ask, if the damage was repaired by a shop or in someone's back garage.

My neon is a fixer-upper too. It can be a great way to get a cheap car, if the repair was done right.

when you go to look at it just make sure the body lines all match up ok and theres no rust where the repairs were made.
