Edit: Also most windshields are part of the airbag "system" so a film may have an unwanted influence as far as that goes, too. Not sure if that applies to Neons, tho.
is exactly right...and this is a pa law also....i saw this when i was digging through the pa inspection codes when my local shop was trying to screw me on something....70% of light is the code in pa for inspection.

I don't have a tint story, my tint came with the car and I have no clue what % it is. But I do have a ticket story. I was leaving my mom's job after meeting her for lunch, and I was doing about 70+ down the road in a 45 and it had just turned into a construction zone. I pulled into a car dealership that had an SRT-4 for sale. When i got out of my car there was a motorcycle cop behind me reading off my plate into his radio. He asked for the usual and told me how fast he clocked me at. Mean while a salesman had walked out that happened to know the cop. He talked the cop into letting me off without a ticket. The cop asked me something about my last name which I guess was a joke cause after I answered him he turned to the sales man and said, "he didn't get it." Then he said he was going to take my license cause it was cracked and to get a new one. He also said that he didn't "want to see that piece of shit speeding ever again." I told him thank you and I asked what his name was to which he replied, "you don't need to know my name" and then drove off. The guy was a real hard ass, which was confirmed while I was talking to the salesman. After that I just went and got a new license and went home and played some Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Never thought I would have a car salesman to thank for not getting a ticket. It would have been through the roof to because of the construction zone.

Court tomorrow :) I'll let you guys know...

Testimony:

Your Honor, About a year ago my A/c in my car went bad and w/o any money to fix the system I purchased some heat reflective film to keep it cooler in the sun, I went home and put it on and been driving it around like so for about a year and also been pulled over b4 for my headlights being aimed to high and was never warned about tint. I was in the towns car show and cops walked by and never said a word to me and after I was recently pulled over I removed the tint right after work that day. I never intended on breaking the law and once told I removed it, all I needed was a warning and it would have been gone.

* Pictures blhab llhab * :) Best I can do.

It turned out in a continuence, the law in Pa states that 70% all around is the legal limit, no matter rear views and what not. on 1998 and below your allowed 20 svec or something that it comes in the windows and apparently their very strict because an officer in Pa died because he couldnt see the guy with a gun behind his tint. on trucks your allowed antyhing on the back and 70 in front.

So If I strip my back windows then the fines are dropped but I'm afraid to strip the rear window because I might kill my defroster... are the defroster lines inside the window or do they still make them sitting on the inside of the window.

I think they are acutally on the window, not in the glass.

He showed me the law stated by Penndot and it was 70% limit on every window all around 98+ and under a 98 your allowed to have 20% on the rear window if its In the Window and 70 on rest.
Prettty gay like where the hell do you get 70% ? why even put it on ? Im gonna stick it to the man and wear sunglasses :)

 I'm going to have to use that one at work tomorrow. Anyway, yeah that is pretty stupid. Did he say anything when you told him that you had it for a year, had passed by cops, even pulled over for other things, and was told nothing about the tint?

I would not go that far since the judge might not like the comments...
I would remove the tint and have the windows tested for light transmission and then bring the test results to court stating that the tinit was removed and here's the document stating it. I've been there done that with the window tint here in WNY, and the laws basically state you can not have any tint on the side windows at all on a 4 door...

where did u hear that u cant have window tint on the side windows at all on a 4 door? i live in nny an i asked a state trooper about this an the back side windows are fair game. the front 2 u cant tint past like 35%
but the back sides an rear window u can tint 2% an they cant do shit!!

In Pennsylvania the law is no more the 70% on any window and where are you gonna find 70 percent tint ? So basicly all tint is illegal in Pa.

not bad for a first citation. mine was 65 in a 35. Ouch, lawyers are expensive.
