so i was just playin around in a wet parking lot sliding my car at like 30 mph...probly faster than that without the use of the e-brake and then i get done with that and im drving home and the cel comes on...so i pull the code with my scanguage...(i saw someone put up what pretty much all the codes mean) and i keep that in my glove box and it was the code P0551 i think....about the power steering switch, high pressure at high speeds...so i just cleared it with my scanguage and it never came back....really wasnt expecting it to in the 1st place sence i know i fooled the computer....anyone else have this deal happen?

well drifter-wanabe, maybe if you'd quit trying to pull some mad tight driftzzz in a FWD Neon, you wouldn't have this porblem...

it doesnt effect your power steering. it just effects the pressure put on your pump when you turn the wheel at idle. that pretty much what it does that is why i havent gone out and bought another haha

The switch raises the idle rpm when X amount of pressure is sensed to keep the engine from stalling while parking. It may also sense too much pressure, as in cranking the wheel all the way to one side while sliding sideways

I drift really well in my Neon, but I won't do it in the rain. I push the limits already, I don't know how to control it on wet pavement. Perhaps if my practice grounds wasn't full of brick buildings.

Make your own forum and you can have that problem, too.
Or prove yourself worthy and kiss Jason's ass enough and you might get to mod a little-used category. haha

Are you sure you drift? Or do you e-brake slide? I didn't know you could powerslide a fwd.....

Let the battle begin LOL

Same thing, different words. Using the e-brake is the beginner's choice for drifting. There are a few other methods, none of which can be done (successfully) with a FWD car. Or my cousin's 240SX because it's a bucket and falls apart.

When learning how to drift the e-brake is used at first to accustom the driver to being sideways without the danger of trying to overpower your car and ending up plowing through things because you can't control it. Plus it's super easy to pull off, but probably one of the hardest to perfect.

in my 95 when i was dumb i drifted "ebrake slid" and it broke my power steering pump and yeah i had no power steering for weeks i learned my lesson
