I Have two Evap codes running and i need them fixed

Post by dansou5 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 11:02 am

I am getting two codes:

P0442-EVAP SYSTEM MEDIUM LEAK

P0455-EVAP SYSTEM LARGE LEAK

I got under the car and looked at the hoses but i really dont know what to look for. Would this problem be the hoses or something else? I really dont know much about this system. Any help would be appreciated.

look for cracked hoses, loose connections with hoses...try a new gas cap....or burn the car and get a new one...

Take a look at this topic...

Mine was a P0456 (small system leak) but it can grow to a large leak if not caught in time. Either way it will give you pictures and text to help you find the place to start looking

Would that hose be the only one to look for cracks, or all of the other ones also? Is it possible for me to buy the other hoses other than the one from the PT cruiser?

The other hoses are available separately. I would look at the other hoses for cracks as well. Another possibility is your gas cap. Any shop that does emissions testing can check your cap for you.
