Howell has a pretty good track record with their reprogrammed ecu on other models so I'm guessing this one shouldn't be any different. They put in a lot of time reverse engineering the code, so it's usually not released until all the kinks are worked out.

Billy posted that he will be in KY from the 11th-15th in case you didn't read his post a few days ago. I'd guess in the next week it should be installed.

Have a little patience and consideration. You haven't spent the $, and took the risk. Some of us have other obligations in life besides other's need to know. It is just a car, not family or a career.

He isn't charging for the info, he could tell you to paypal him $20, and he'll PM you the results. ;)

Some people can be so damn impatient, especially when it isn't their money on the line.

Yep I got it installed today.....
and to tell you the truth I'm not very impressed.
My CEL is off now and the car seems to run a little better but the POWER gains are not noticable (if there are any at all). Went to the dyno today I'm suspose to call Monday and set up an appointment for next week. I talked to someone at howell on the phone the day before I went to KY and asked about the new rev limit and they said high 7s well that didn't show on my stock tach but they did warn me about that. :quotes: Something about the programing for the stock tach was never written to go that high so it wont show we'll see what happens next week when I put it on the rollers. I'm not going to bash it yet. With the mods I have on my car and the AFX installed I should have close to 175hp from the infomation I have gathered about people with similar builds on pre-NGC cars.

I can mis shift and push the tach way higher than 8,000 rpm. So how does that work? It is only programed for engine speeds beyond what the throttle CFM is capable of? Let them explain that.

it says your supposed to drive the car around for a week like normal before the computer will understand most of the mods. or at least thats what the guy from afx told me. I'll find his email and post it.

And thus the disappointment of many Neon owners begins...

I'll be very interested to see what the dyno has to say. There could be gains but for them to not even register on the butt dyno they must be very minimal.

Its believed you can "feel" 10hp I have seen an NGC tach go well into the 7s as have several SRT tachs.

On a good note I installed my MPx 60mm TB today and it worked and didn't throw the CEL or send my car into limp mode!!! When I installed the TB with my stock computer the car wouldn't make it down the block before it went into limp mode and started doing all sorts of crazy shit.
So +1 for that
and -2 for not reaching 7000+ rpms :(

So it is hitting the rev limit before 7000, and cutting out like the normal PCM? Because with a 60mm it should go well past. I can bounce mine pretty hard at 6750. You can tell there is plenty more power band left. This is with an '02 R/T pcm. They are "supposed" to have a few more rpm's but I don't see it getting past 6750. It has yet to hit 6810 rpm. (Unless that is only for '01 R/T PCMs) But I wouldn't trust my life to the accuracy of the oem tach, not much less than 50 to 100 rpm either way above idle.

NEVERMIND :banghead:
I went on a ride just a few minutes ago and ding ding ding a little chime went off in my car the CEL came on and the car started bucking and sputtering at about 2500 RPMs :cussing:
I don't think I'm going to waste the money going to the dyno next week I have a feeling that I got a stock ECU with a A/FX sticker on it and to think it only cost me $500 to get something I all ready had what a deal. :owned: I'll give howell a call on Monday and try and find out whats up with this thing.

sorry to hear that, but stick with it and see what happens. They may take it back and test it or ship you another one??? Maybe it just needs a little more time to "learn"? Maybe the dodge dealer screwed it up when he flashed in the info?

I was the guinea pig that did the Jet "Stage 2" chip and I complained to Howell but never got anything back and the people at Jet just gave me the run around. Gary said others have been happy with the Jet chip, but it showed absolutley no gains on the dyno. (I installed the chip and drove it around for 2 weeks and then dynoed with the chip, then took the chip out and dynoed, and then unhooked the negative battery term for a few minutes to "reset" the computer and then ran it again and all 3 runs were almost identical). I kinda wish I would have exchanged it for another chip or sent it back to Jet for "testing" and dynoed it again just to be certain it was bullshit...but I just sold the chip (to somebody with full knowledge of my experience) and moved on.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Oh, and I posted my email and a few people paypaled me a couple of bucks as a thank you for trying it out and saving them $250. You might consider the same thing as you are taking a HUGE step for all us NGC peoples. I think I could scrounge up a few $ to help with the dyno fees.

Wait you had your SKIM flashed in? You wiped out the AFx program, IIRC to flash the SKIM the whole PCM is flashed. Didnt they ask for your VIN when you ordered the PCM they should have flashed it.

by INVUJerry
No, you can get your VIN programmed into the ECU without any problems. BRR has done this with 00-02 PCM's.

Howell is a useless mother fucker.
