rb1 mopar navigation radio for sale EBAY!!

I have used the 82207541 Adapter and have got everything wired up except for the "speed sensor wire." http://home.comcast.net/%7Emr.scsi3/RB1_RB4.HTML
Where it says adapting to older vehicles, the third thing is wiring the speed sensor wire to the adapter. Anyone done this or know which wire I am looking for?

82207541 Adapter is for the radio openig according to the link. The speed sensor/wire is located by the passenger side halfshaft housing on MTX and IIRC the drivers side front on the ATX. This may also help: http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=33193&highlight=
Or not. Edit: you will prolly need to tap into the VSS wire. It still needs to send the pulses to your PCM. You may want to put some info on your car either in your sig, or garage.

Thats the adapter I meant. I have a 2000 MTX. Can I tap in to a wire behind the gauge cluster?

I'm confused. I assume you are talking about an RB1 radio. Are you trying to hook up the automatic volume control? Thats the only reason I can think of for needing that circuit.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Read C. in the last paragraph. I think the GPS must use that signal.

I still think you would need to tap into the wire before it goes to the PCM. Not sure how the cluster gets the signal from the PCM. Prolly via the buss cable. I would not attempt to tap into that.

If I'm not mistaken the only reason it would use that signal would be so it can disable some menus while you're in motion. That and when you go into a tunnel it also tracks your car as best it can when it looses GPS signal.

You are probably right, but it isn't working correctly without it.

And you're just trying to put it into your 00?

Yes, everything is powering correctly. When I go to use the GPS it doesn't track my movement at all, it detects when I change directions but not distance.

Is the direction correct? By that I mean if you're driving north is the arrow pointing north and when you're going East it'll point east?

Do you have the GPS receiver mounted under the dash pad? When you go into the Options / GPS (going from memory so it could be different) does it show your Lat/Long and that you have a good signal?

Yes the direction is correct, and it says that I have 4 satellites, but for some reason it says city: Maumee, OH. Which is where the previous owner used it I assume. I have the antenna mounted on the dash close to the windshield. I assumed the city problem is because it doesn't track me moving on any roads and therefore is just showing me changing directions in one spot in OH.

How long have you left it outside or drove it around without shutting off? Usually after a GPS has been powered off, moved a great distance then powered back up it takes awhile to find it's new location since it's such a great distance from it's last location. I've never heard of anyone having a problem like this but I would think the Nav would sense it's speed from the GPS, not the speed sensor.

That's what I always thought, but I don't own one, so I wasn't 100% sure. The tunnel thing would make perfect sense. IIRC most rally trucks use only the GPS to determine speed, as the speedo wouldn't be accurate due to tire slippage on the gravel/dirt. If they have some kind of technical support, I would give them a call, if it doesn't reset it's self.

Ya I am lost now. I'm pretty sure I hooked up the speed sensor wire now and I am still having the same problem.

why not call the 1-800 number and see if you can get some answers from the manufacturer? Since that's a fairly rare deck and not many here have one..

Yeah the speed sensor wire is to limit menu use while traveling above 10mph I believe, so you cant start tapping in new addresses while your cruising along the highway.

Anyway...as for the Maumee, OH thing, as far as I know all you need to do is change the "Home" location inside the Navi menu.

Sorry though for not responding to your thread and PM's on DF, its all messed up over there and I can barely even post in threads or send PM's...

I have my RB4 installed and i never had a problem. I just mounted the antenna under my dash pad and started using my nav.

As far as i know the RB4 doesn't have a speed sensor so i'm all good there.
