I love my car!

Well I went for a drive yesterday ~150mi because a bunch of shit has been going on recently, when I'm heading back through the last town, I start to smell antifreeze, don't think anything of it because I know that I keep it a little overfull just in case, then I start to smell ATF and I get worried. I'm not too far from home so I decide to just baby it home. So I'm heading up this hill and get stuck at a red light. Light turns green and It revs to 3k before it finally catches and chirps the tires and takes off. Well I get stopped in a school parking lot, shut her down and look behind me and see a trail of fluid from where I went. I pop the hood and see antifreeze all down the firewall. I think I blew the head gasket at this point. Then I start the car back up and check the tranny fluid and its empty. I think great, my sealant from when I serviced the trans last week is screwed now too.

Turns out the radiator blew and my motor is now full of ATF. I got most of it out tonight guess I'll finish it up tomorrow. I got a new radiator to throw in tomorrow. Shelia and I will be terrorizing the streets in no time!

Sorry for the wall of text I just need to vent.

Hopefully, everything will be ok! What did your temp gage read?
Losing all your trans fluid can't be good for the trans, either...

Damn sorry to hear that! Hopefully you'll have her up and running in no time!

Temp gauge didn't read any different so that's weird. I got her all cleaned out with some hot water and a pressure washer. She would have been running to day, but one of the ends for the trans cooler was messed up with threads missing halfway down and I couldn't get it started. :tardbang: I have to wait until Tuesday to get a new one. And if the trans is bad I'll be getting a loan and buying a wrecked RT with a good motor trans and suspension for $650 and swapping the tranny in and shaving the head and decking the block and building that from there. We used to run a used car dealer and we got a lot of parts from them. Other than the time aspect and loss of work I wouldn't mind if the trans is shot.

I had the same problem about 3 weeks ago... Replaced the radiator, thermostat, some seals, and flush the trans/coolant. Car works perfectly fine again!

See, here is your solution. With this opportunity, you can't go wrong. Do a drive train swap from the wrecked R/T, and you are completely set. Motor, trans, pedal set, wire harness, it's all right there, ready to be pulled and dropped in.

Oh how tempting it is, and I plan on buying the car once I get at least half together which isn't a problem if everybody else didn't need money too. My parents have run into some trouble from when my dad wasn't working and my sis and I have been helping out, and then this happens. And even better after resoldering the tab for the rear defroster onto my mom's van, my dad closes the hatch, then a couple minutes later the whole window shatters. Oh well, guess I'll be finding a ride to work tomorrow. Or maybe not...

Well got the new radiator and the car runs great. This is the second trans flush in 3 weeks. It shifts a lot better now too. I'm soooo glad to have Shelia to take me to work instead of my sisters F-150 and my moms Windstar. God damn I hate driving those things compared to my car, they both have more power but feel really really sluggish compared to my car.

Glad you got it all worked out without having to replace the engine.

Yeah and tonight I took apart my brakes to find out while the left front is squealing. I still don't know other than the rotor is worn and rusted to shit. The right side wasn't far behind. I had a spare from when I got the car that I turned and put on so it stopped it on that side. Then I go to check the other side and the freaking pad falls off the backing plate! Fortunately I had a loaded caliper lying around too and got it put back together. She now runs and stops, but I gotta get the front brakes done after this. I may start saving for coilovers because all thats left to go is the stock struts. At least I'll know that everything is being done right!
