plain and simple when i make a left or right turn ONLY my airbag light comes on after i straighten out it will go off. it wont come on if im driving straight only when i make turns. it just happened today and ive been working all day so i havent had a chance to check it im assuming one of the wires in the steering collum is being twisted to much or pinched. I would bet that it's your clockspring going bad (99% sure).
Part #4671945AA...MSRP $160.00 This is what all your steering wheel controls (horn, airbag feed) go through. Since you are experiencing the problems when the wheel is turned, that screams clockspring failure to me.

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

The clockspring has separate circuits in it for each function. The horn circuit may work fine, but the airbag circuit may not, or vice-versa.
As far as installing it, it is a pretty easy job. You have to exercise caution working around the airbag, and the steering wheel needs to be pulled off.
