Post by trinity_rush2001 » Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:46 am

so i havent had a lot of time today and i gotta crash soon so this will be a quick thread

plain and simple when i make a left or right turn ONLY my airbag light comes on after i straighten out it will go off. it wont come on if im driving straight only when i make turns. it just happened today and ive been working all day so i havent had a chance to check it im assuming one of the wires in the steering collum is being twisted to much or pinched. PLZ guys i really need help with this one.

Thx

I would bet that it's your clockspring going bad (99% sure).

Part #4671945AA...MSRP $160.00 This is what all your steering wheel controls (horn, airbag feed) go through. Since you are experiencing the problems when the wheel is turned, that screams clockspring failure to me.

you should be able to pull one from a junk yard. You will just have to look at it and make sure that it's perfect and that you wind it correctly when you put it on.

The only thing that sucks about the junkyard units is that when the clockspring fails, it is inside where you can't see it :(

Like we say, it isn't if it fails, it's when

The clockspring has separate circuits in it for each function. The horn circuit may work fine, but the airbag circuit may not, or vice-versa.

As far as installing it, it is a pretty easy job. You have to exercise caution working around the airbag, and the steering wheel needs to be pulled off.
