ok so today i was driving my 04 sxt 5 spd, around took it to work, it drove and started fine, i came home and then i was leaving to go to my new apartment to do some painting with my brother, and as i shifted in to sec gear, the car completely shut off, no check engine light , no lights period on dash except for mileage, will not start or crank, checked engine room fuse box, all fuses have power, checked interior fuse panel, only 4 fuses have power no other fuse have power at all. my after market alarm doesn't even work, so i removed the alarm box, and tried again still nothing. tried checking the ignition switch on the column, checked as much as i could with a test light, wish this had happened at work so i could at least have access to my tools, i have no idea what is wrong or could be wrong if any of you guys and shed some light on this or at least your thoughts, it would be gladly appreciated.

Dead battery with a faulty alternator?

battery is fine, and never had a problem with the alt yet, doesnt seem like a battery, seems more along the lines of an electrically wireing or component failure. the headlights work, and hazards work, windows work, when switch is turned to acc or on position, but like i said no lights on cluster like cel, air bag, seatbelt, etc dont come on like they should if you have the key in the acces or on position. could it possibly be the ignition switch???

Something similar happened to me once. In my case the alternator belt broke off and drained the battery enough to not make it start or run. Some stuff still worked since the battery wasn't completely dead. I assume a faulty alternator could do the same thing.
Have you tried jump starting it? That should rule out the battery/alternator really quick.

no havent tryed to jump it, only because it hasnt given me any type of hard start or anything like that but i can try that tomorrow some time.

checked battery voltage this morning it is at 12.17volts, witch is more than enough to start the vehicle and turn it over, its almost like i am getting no power to the ignition switch to turn on anything. the radio doesnt turn on, my alarm doesnt even work at all no chirp from the horn, no dash lights come on, sunroof doesnt have power, still only 4 fuses have power, the rest dont, the skim fuse has no power with vehicle key in off position ( no sure if it has to be out of off position to have power) any further insight,
also the fuse panel has power but only some of the interior fuses do. i work with nissans all day, but their fuse panels all ways have power, even when off. ' i am confused'
it almost seems like the ignition switch isnt coming out of the off position, i can turn the switch to acc and on position but still nothing comes on

i checked all the wiring harness going to the ignition and on the motor nothing is loose, but i find the 30 amp starter fuse on the fuse box in the engine compartment was just cracked in the middle,i couldnt see it last night. i dont know if that fuse runs over half the stuff in the car and ignition switch buti am gonna get another in a little and see if it starts then.

try replacing that fuse like you said and get back to us. Could it be a relay of some sort?

i did replace it, and have power again. the fuse says starter relay fuse, but it also controls half the fuse panel isnside the car. car is up and running again. it was a very small break in the fuse, that i couldnt really see.

Glad you got it fixed, I was going to suggest "ASD(?) relay" before seeing you found the problem. BTW when was the last time you were at the Pike? I've been wanting to see your car in person for a while now.

Test lights FTW. Just ground it and probe the top of the fuse (they have an access hole in the top) If both sides light, it's good.

i didnt have a test light with me in the car and it was after all the auto stores closed to pick on up, it was one of the fuses with the clear plastic case over it.
the last time i was at the pike was last summer, i will probely be going back to the pike this upcoming summer , after i get the car fixed.

At least it was an easy fix. It sucks when you break down like that, makes it a pain to figure out the problem.

P0513-INVALID SKIM KEY It (SKIM module)prolly wasn't getting power, but the PCM was when you were attempting to start with the blown fuse. As long as it's starting now with out issue, it should clear.
