Most likely the bearings in the blower motor need some fresh lube. Unfortunately it is prolly immpossible to lube them without destroying the motor. The FSM states that the blower motor wheel (fan) is only serviced by replacing both wheel and motor, so I doubt it is servicable.

You probably won't get the noise once the car is warmed up...(temp gauge in the medium area)...and there isn't really any point in turning the fan on before your at temp, because the motor isn't warm, so there is no heat to pull into the car....

Don't get me wrong, the first thing I do when it's cold is crank the heat, even if there is not heat to crank....it just seems like a good idea when it's cold, haha.....but I don't believe turning it on before the motor is cold can really make the motor get warmer that much quicker, or anything like that....

just my .o2

It's not a normal thing.

And I use mine before it warms up all the time, or else I can't see out the windshield. Defrost is key, even if it's cold.
