Need opinions on a 2001 R/T

Post by Themaggots » Wed Jan 07, 2009 3:59 pm

So I have found a silver manual 2001 R/T not too far from my area.

The car got 133k KMs or about 80k miles.

As far as the dealer know, the car was not accidented.

It has no rust, it comes fully loaded, also comes with 8 tires (4 winter tires on rims and 4 summer tires on mags) all in decent condition

The dealer says he got a service file showing good maintenance.

The dealer says it passed safety inspection but will need to have the tensioner pulley replaced (If anyone could get me a price quote on the parts or other things that should get changed at the same time; thanks.)

It's for 3800$ (Canadian dollars) with taxes.

Should I get it?

I'd say knock the price down to $3200 Canadian and have that dealer do the tensioner, timimg belt + waterpump for you. It's preventative maintenance since you'd need to do the timing belt + pump in another 20K miles anyway. Try that and see if they bite?

That depends...

If you are willing to get your hands dirty and have the ability to do the maintenance that this car will need, then go for it! That's pretty low mileage for an '01.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Tell them with that many miles you're going to have to do the water pump, oil, tbelt, tensioner. ask for $3k and emphasize how people are broke right now LOL

oh and take cash

yellowpatrol i saw your sig and loled, and to stay on topic, I agree with everyone on the cash bit and trying to get them to do the maininance, cash is a very lucrative thing to stealerships, cause they don't have to pay anything to set up financing and stuff like that

That may be true now, But they didn't like it at all when I put $11,000 down on my Cherokee. They make $ on finance charges. The stupid f*ck tried to covince me to invest that $11k in the stock market, lease it for 5 years, and then buy it/finance for 4 more years. Yeah, that happened.
