Alright, so its been a while since ive been on and i really want to get another neon.
there is an 01 r/t that i am looking at and i need some advice.
Its got 80,000 miles on it
Needs: clutch, brake job, possibly new computer, and a little love.
It drives like poop which turned me off to it in the first place but now i am having second thoughts.
she wants $3500 for it which is not too bad but this is going to be my dd so it MUST be reliable.
Is this worth fixing or am i wasting my time?

if it is that bad, then the price should be lower imo.
after that it would be worth fixing

I think for like 2000 or 2500 that would be a good car, otherwise I would pass IMO

walk away... walk away.
By the time you get all that fixed up your in the hole for probably another 2k, if not more (depending on how you get things fixed up).

Unless you plan on doing a SRT swap then let someone else deal with it.

PT Clutch w/throwout brg. $300 MPX
5033021AD Powertrain control - Ecm, neon, sohc, manual trans, w/rt 2001 - 2002 $624.00 List $451.20 OEMdodgeparts
Brakes would be another $100 with quality parts, or more if the rears need done.
Plus labor if you don't do the stuff yourself.
Take it for another drive, and do the key dance to see what codes it may offer. In most cases, when the PCM dies it won't run, so I wouldn't bet 100% on it being done.
At any rate, tell her the parts may cost you another $700 to fix it plus labor.
I only got $2100 for my SE with 120,000 when they totalled it, so if something were to happen to it shortly after you bought it you would be lucky to get the purchase price out of it at $3500, and you will be out the repairs, as those are considered normal maintenance.
edit:
If she is using it for a trade they'll give her 3500, and make up the loss in the paperwork. then turn around and put a$5000 sticker on it.

codes are:
P0601(M) PCM Internal Controller Failure Internal control module fault condition (check sum) detected.
P1684 Battery Disconnected in the last 50 Starts The battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts.
i do plan on srt swapping but not for a long while, like 2 years. everything else seems to be in order though.

Yeah seriously. I'd wate and scout some good 1gns or whatever on this site. There have been some REALLY good cheap deals lately.

Welcome back homie.
Not worth 3500, I agree with everyone else.
It'd have to be like 2500 tops. Whats low blue book on it?
I saw a beautiful RT on here for sale not too long ago for like 4500, in perfect shape. Just look around, post a WTB thread too.
