My R/T's exhaust is way to loud

Ok so i just put the MPx Mid-Length header and a high flow cat with the thermal research dual tip muffler on my car and well lets just say i have the loudest car in the county. i need help on how to quiet this thing down ALOT. My bro has an srt-4 acr and when he is at 6000 rpms his exhaust is about where mine is at 3000. Thats how loud it is. I bet its close to hundred or more decibels. Which i am waiting to get pulled over. When i drive this thing i have to shift at 2000 rpms because anything over that is just obnoxious. Help me out guys what can i do to quiet it down.

30 inch resonator pipe in the middle.

Yeah, I'd try to hack off part of the mid-section and replace it with a nice long glasspack muffler. Should only cost about $30, too.

Or whatever you have room for with the mid length. Not sure how much you've made up or lost (length) with the cat. Is it a universal or direct fit? Other than changing the axle back that is about your only option.

The cat was a smaller replacement. So it does not stick out any farther than the stock one. I have the stock resonator in there. I will have to measure to see if i can fit a 30 inch one in there.

Even if you can't fit a 30" in there, a smaller one will still help a lot. I think I'm running a 22" or something close on my Neon and it help insanely. I was running a stock SRT exhaust on my SXT.

im running the same setup as you ^^^ but with the 30, basically i just chopped the middle out and welded in the 30 on the rear side, and bolted it back up. was quick and sounds nice

I love the sound of it and yeah, it was definitely quick to do.

@menigoz_rt - I picked my glasspack up at a local Napa parts store for about $25. It's just a Thrush glasspack. It's a pretty deep tone - Not ricey at all. You'll love it.

My point. I would have recommended Summit, but you will spend needlessly for shipping.
Maybe I'm just a cheap bastid.

Jake, I'll go out right now and get a small clip for you, but it'll be from the inside of the car because it's raining like crazy.

Interesting. I have the Thermal R&D on my car and it's not that loud. It sounds great. Actually, I wish it were a little more audible

You're not running a header and highflow cat though. Big difference ;)

You don't know that......

...But I'm not. I just can't imagine it being terribly louder, but I guess its possible

I've heard the thermal before and it's pretty loud by itself, much less with the high flow cat and a header.

Drone is really a matter of opinion, which kind of makes it hard to gauge how bad it is from other people. If I can't hear it over my music at a normal level, then I don't consider it as droning. I have been in cars where it's really bad though, almost like a subwoofer is stuck on.

Sure thing! I'd do it today, but it's windy as all hell and all you'd probably hear is wind blowing. If it's not one thing with the weather in Ohio, it's the other.

I'll get ya' new clips soon enough!
