I dk about the 500, I've been aiming for an RX-8 for a little while now.

Now if the 500 were rear wheel drive...

How can you even compare a Fiat 500 to a Mazda RX-8?

That's sort of like comparing a Dodge Viper to a Toyota Prius

Yup. :thefinger:

Actually, I like the Abarth's, but that's it. I like the Mazdaspeeds, but that's it. Both car's non-sporty versions are gay, so it's quite easy to compare. However, in a name brand war, Mazda would kill faggy Fiat every time, so in that case, the RX-8 has no competition from the bumbling italians.

MazdaSpeed sedans are great and much more affordable than the RX-8 sports car

Don't be too critical of Italian cars, Fiat is also the parent company for Alfa Romeo, Maseratti, and Ferarri.

Four 500s by 2011. That is the latest word out of Italy concerning the adorable Fiat 500. While the Chrysler/Fiat merger chugs along, the tiny 500 is the only model that has been officially greenlighted for American consumption under the Fiat banner. To make up for that dearth of models, Fiat will apparently offer the 500 in four different flavors when it reaches these shores: hatchback, convertible, station wagon and sporty hatchback. There's also an outside chance of a micro-CUV according to this Automotive News piece.

The "sporty hatchback" will be the Abarth, Europe's 2008 Car of the Year. Chrysler/Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne calls it "our iPod." Wonder if it's too late for some co-branding. While it might seem that a sporty wagon and sporty drop-top would be fairly easy to slot into the mix (Abarth Giardiniera SS Corsa, FTW!), we'll have to make due with those four iterations for the time being. The 500 family should be in U.S. dealerships by the first half of 2011. The American-market cars will likely be produced at a Chrysler plant in the United States or in Toluca, Mexico, but there's no official word on U.S. pricing yet.

I think the Abarth will be much cheaper to own, but it's very tiny. Nothing like a Neon.

Watch the Top Gear review of the Abarth, quite a good reveiw. Also the new Feiesta is pretty funny.

I watch that show religiously. I loved the Fiesta review. The Focus RS review was pretty awesome too.

The video was great. I'll probably have to test drive the FIAT 500 Abarth when they finally get to the local Dodge dealerships.

Can't say that I like the looks of the car. But if it's fun to drive, I've owned some ugly cars in the past.

Abarth has been a pretty good performance moniker(sp) in the EU for awhile now.

Yes I live in Ohau, :( the roads here are nasty along with the traffic.

Were you stationed here? Or was it by choice?

edit with older Fiat 500 drag race.

the roads out there aren't great but at the same time they aren't as bad as in some places. i was stationed by choice i loved it out there other than the fact that someone stole my subs and amp outta my car when i live in pearl city.

Pearl City is bad for stuff like that. I don't like it out here, I don't hate it, but I'd rather be in FL.
