Why do you people insist on bringing up the same topic over and over
Bring back the Shelby Charger GLHS or the Dodge Daytona, screw the neon!

Don't forget the conquest, I really liked that car. The daytona was the first car I ever got to drive, good memories.

I wonder if people even know what a caliber is (because its not a compact car) or even drove one to make judgements on it

Eh. I never drove one myself, I just find them ugly.
I'd take a mazdaspeed3 over the caliber myself.
I'm considering that s my next car actually....

Conquest = Mitsubishi. I'll admit, they were neat cars, but they had their issues (Turbo setup with single point injection? No thanks.)
As far as the Daytona & GLHS comment... you all know what I think of those cars

. 25 years ago, the Omni GLH handled better than a lot of cars do now.

That is about the only car I'd buy right now. Other than the regular Mazda3.
Anyhow, you know what I was thinking the other day? Do you think they'll ever bring back the Neon?

Isn't that the point of this whole thread?
And no, I don't think they will ever bring back the Neon. Even if they had a similar design brought back it wouldn't be called the Neon. Too many problems are associated with that name now and plus I think the name is outdated. Nowadays we hear of cars like the Aero and the Kazamai. Neon just sounds...well, used up.

Where in the world are you hearing model names like Aero or Kazamai

The Chevy Aero and the Mazda Kazamai? Sorry I shoulda put the company names before it. I was just giving an example of other names that seem to be the 'now' of car names.

Chevy Aveo
And the kazamai is a concept, concepts have goofy names a lot of times. The concept name doesn't mean that will be the production name.

Ah yeah thats what I meant the Aveo.
And again, I was just giving an example. I couldn't think of any other names at the time but if you caught my direction I was going, I'm basically saying that the Neon name just doesn't hold any water anymore. At least that's what I think.

I got to drive an '09 with 15K miles on it last week when my SRT was in the shop (Enterprise Rent-a-Car to the rescue!) and didn't like this one any better than the one Chrysler provided the last time. To be fair, I didn't like the PT Cruiser that I got another time that my car was being repaired. I was really surprised at how this recent Caliber gulped gas.

For me, nothing replaces a Neon.

Of course there's no comparison with the newer generation of oem turbo'd cars, but for it's time that car has some real balls. That was the start of the whole DSM collaboration between mitsubishi and chrysler, which helped create the small displacement turbo scene we have today. I would call it the beginning of an era that has flourished to this day.
That actually makes me sound older than I really am.

We actually used one as a track car in high school since our teacher had an affection for them. We had one that we used to tow cars in and out of the shop, a true beater.
As for the caliber, I was not impressed with the one we had as a rental. It had 5k miles on it. and it felt like it had 105k on it. It was very yugo-like if I had to compare it to another car. Probably one of the weakest cars I've driven in a long time as well, although I can't speak for the srt model.

Well I guess that would go hand in hand with the rumor that Chrysler might sell the Viper designs and name to Nissan. I don't rely on rumors though.

i also heard a rumor that Chrysler will merge with Fiat which means they probable will build something like a neon again cuz all the fiats are small cars and sorta look like shrunken neons especially the 500

Yeah, like the "merger of equals" with Daimler.

No, there won't be another Neon, just an imported Fiat that will say "Dodge" on it. Guess that an Italian-made "Dodge" is better than a communist Chinese-made "Dodge".
