i found a 2001 neon acr, its black, bone stock, 136k, and very clean. the only rust i can find is on the hood. is there an easy way to tell if the timing belt has been changed? what do you guys think its worth?

looks like an 01 to me just like mine minus the fog lights and side skirts. the R/Ts and ACRs have that lip on the front bumper that the regular 02s don't have, I believe.
Just for reference i paid $4000 for my 2001 R/T with around 100,000 miles on it. I kinda of got screwed since I had to replace the clutch and do some major tranny work and some other repairs soon after i bought it.

I paid $5300 for my 2002 ACR two years ago. It had 72,000 miles on it. I wouldn't pay over $3800 or so for this car. And yeah take the extra time and money to change things like the timing belt. Mine broke around 90,000 miles and I had to make a $1300 repair. FTL....but i still love my car!!!!

they are askin 3,000 for it right now and im thinkin about tryin to get it for 2,500. the clutch feels good, when you shift its nice and smooth. mechanically and physically the car looks to be well taken care of. oh and to top it off im pretty sure the lot has no idea that its an acr. they mainly deal with imports so to them its 'just a neon'

As long as the 8th digit in the VIN is an F there would be little doubt. I would buy it. I would also see if they know if the belt/waterpump has been changed. If they don't know, it is a good way to bargain on the price. Play dumb like you would have to pay a shop to have it done.

Just in case anyone doesn't know this, you can get ballpark prices at nada.com, kbb.com and edmunds.com. Edmunds' prices are generally lower than the other two.

No door moldings FTW! I vote buy it, especially if they'll take less for it.

That's a good price, i would do it in an instant. Even if the timing belt hasn't been done, you can do the belts/pumps for under 400 if you can do it yourself.
