Yes. just tee into a vacuum line that originates between the head and throttle plate.

Sure can. I've actually got an old no-name boost gauge that I keep in my tool box and use as a vacuum tester when I need it.

really? a vacuum gauge is a great tool to aid in changing how one accelerates and cruise in a manner to increase mpg.

Right, a vacuum gauge is. Not a boost/vacuum gauge mounted in a non-boosted car. Especially since a dedicated vacuum gauge will give you much better corner-of-the-eye readability than trying to read just the left side of a boost/vacuum gauge. I can't say anything bad because I was a ricer once just like everybody else. Nobody busted my balls too hard about it, so I'm not going to either.

The way I see it if it was free, you have it, and it works - use it. Yes it is going to be harder to read, due to the smaller scale, but it beats letting it sit on a shelf taking up space. Or in a landfill.
If you are buying one, then definately go dedicated vacuum.
