my turn to post a major problem...

Post by Pablodragon » Mon Jul 20, 2009 10:17 am

well, for all who slammed so hard on me in the exterior section... I guess it worked.
I will say I took another look at my car, and decided to remove the white stripes an the other stickers.... was thinking now about setting money aside to look up a new trunk lid and maybe an SRT hood...
But now, on the way to work Fri. appearantly my o rings went on the trans cooler inside the radiator and mixed coolant with the tans fluid... I guess that's really bad. stared blowing the mix out the overflow on the trans. pulled over and had it towed, but too late... needs major auto trans work, radiator and a new torque converter.
Would like to switch over to a MTX, but this is my DD, and have mo provisions, tools or garage to take on that major project

so I guess all the slamming from the exterior section worked. Thru all yer telekinisis and Jedi mind tricks, u have destroyed my car ! (j/k)...u all be careful with your powers...

Damn, sorry bout the bad luck, Bro. I heard bout our trans and torque converters not being so strong. If that happened to me I'd be "sol" cuz I dont have a 2nd car and I commute 45 one way to work. BTW, dont worry bout your exterior. You gotta go with what you like, if we all did our cars the same it would be boring to look at. If you really think about it alot of ppl would give us shit just for choosing a "chick car" to call our own. So do what do and keep it koo.!

I'm terribly sorry that happened! My first car died on me not too long ago and I know it's pretty flipping tragic.

If you can, I think you should line everything up for a mtx so that your car won't be out of commission for too long and you'll take advantage of this silver-lining opportunity.

However, if this is your dd and there's no solid form of public transportation, you should fix it to make money to save money and get a mtx down the road!

That could get terribly expensive though. I had the same problem about a year ago and it ended up costing me about $2500 to get it fixed with a rebuilt ATX.

It all depends on how much money you have. Sure the MTX might cost you and take you out of commision for awhile, but I don't think it'll cost you nearly as much as an ATX rebuild would cost.

well let's help this guy out.

Get these:
MTX - T350, bellhousing, clutch
Pedal assembly
Shifter
Passenger Axle
Clutch Master Cylinder
Slave Cylinder
MTX Trans mount

I would get a new clutch and a new transmission, but the other things you could get from a junkyard.

Don't forget the PCM.

Also, the shifter cables and engine to trans braces - s/b 2 - 1 in back, and 1 between the oil pan and bell housing

The bellhousing is an intregal part of the MTX. No need to get one.
Just be sure you get a '01 up from a reputable salvage yard/source.

In addition to an MTX pcm, the VSS sensor wiring may need extended, and the connector swapped.

can't you just reflash the ATX ecu? It would be easier to do it because of skim.

Are the ATx and MTx connectors different? Or, are you referring to model years?

Reason I ask, I just swapped in an '04 R/T trans into my '01 ACR, and both b/u and VSS plugs connected up w/no problem.

The ATX sender is in the front of the trans, it uses the parking sprag as the trigger wheel. I imagine the connector is different also.

And excon, now that you mention it, I think I remember something about the PCM being reprogrammable.
