been lookin at this car, i really want another neon and this is a 5 speed so thats a plus. i can get the money on loan from my aunt so it wont be me further in debt. this could be my next project what yall think???

Low miles and a sunroof, nice!

It always bothers me to see such low mileage on an older car... it seems this one has been driven about 6,500 miles/year. That is not a whole lot.

I would be even more concerned if the majority of that mileage has been short trips around town where the engine and drivetrain never really gets warmed up. Those are very hard miles compared to long highway trips.

My other concern is the sunroof... is it factory or aftermarket? ...and more importantly is it leaking?

Aside from Paul's valid concerns, I'd say it's a good deal, if it checks out. I'd ask about owner history, ie, driven by whom? Ask for service records, too.
Have the car checked by a good mechanic before laying down any money for it.

Seems like a pretty good deal if everything checks out in person.

If it wasn't for paying $100, I would have a dealer check the cluster mileage against the PCM mileage, to be sure.

Edit: I think he meant debt that a credit agency will not be able to report. I doubt he could get a loan ATM with his car just being repo'ed.

Just a side note, the ad lists a "pop up sunroof". It very well may be an aftermarket sunroof. If so, be on the lookout for signs of water leaks.

exactly what i meant lol no way im gettin a loan anywhere since my credit is so fucked right now, and she is so loaded i wouldnt have to worry about payin her back right away.

and yes i will most definitely have it checked out real good, and will be trying to talk him down. hopefully i can go look at it this weekend

I think if that wheel offset has been run a while, the bearings/balljoints are prolly near failure.

If you can get that kind of $ from your aunt, why not talk to the bank and see if you can pay off your loan, and get your car back, if it's not too late. At least it may save your credit.

i owe 5200 on the 05 and they want the whole amount because i missed so many payment in the past 2 years. so i pretty much gave up on gettin it back.

i the most i would take from my aunt is 2500 so i found this one seriously, the guy said he hasnt had any other calls on it so i am goin to go check it out saturday.

Seriously, if the 2nd one checks out, I'd offer them $2500 cash for it. Plus, it's a 5spd, and is not plagued by NGC.

I'd go with the gold one, looks like it's been cared for a little better. Plus the 02 bumper is the best looking one IMO.

Might have to do a timing belt though, that's usually why most people sell their high mileage neons.

agreed i love the 02 bumper and thats the first 5 speed 02 i have found close to me, i would go thru it and fix the little problems thats nothin. i just keep gettin on craigslist with the intent to find a cool ride and always lookin for neons lol.
