This might belong under engine section, sorry if it does.
I have a VC my buddy semi polished for me, now my question is do think I should finish polishing it, or paint it. Just looking for ideas.

Thanks

Polish it up.
It will take a long time, but should look good.

Just imagine what it takes to polish a magnum intake from it's as cast finish. You already have the hard part done.

I have to get some new attachments for the dremel, before I can finish. I want to have to finished by next weekend, so I can install it when I do an oil change. I have to finish my foglights too, I have to get one project done before the next.

I wouldn't worry about trying to get it done by a certain time. Take your time, it will come out better that way.
Plus a VC is so easy to remove/install it's not really a big thing. Just make sure you get a new gasket set that includes tube seals. I'm pretty sure the Fel Pro one has new tube seals. The hardest part about doing a VC change is bgetting the new tube seals into the VC.

My current VC is leaking oil from around the pcv. I replaced my tube seals , and when my buddy was helping me he stripped out the pcv. I thought the leak was coming from my camshaft sensor, but its from the pcv.

It's probably a minor leak right?
If so no rush, or as a temp fix wrap the PCV with teflon tape. Also, did he strip the valve itself or the hole.
If it's the hole, then I wouldn't let him near your car again
Stripping a metal hole with a plastic valve takes a special kind of stupid

He actaully stripped out the threads, theres a circle piece that attachs to the vc, that is threaded. so, that piece is no longer attached, Im going through about a quart every 2 weeks right now.

Im using synthetic oil too, so its like $7 a quart. I guess I could try and seal it. I might just go to the junkyard and grab another VC.

Dude, you don't need to spend $7 a qt on synthetic.

The junk yard route is probably the best idea. As for your question, polish or powdercoat. Painting isn't the greatest for a part that gets hot on a normal basis, unless your using the engine enamel that is.

I use mobil, thats what it goes for. But at the rate Im going, probably would of been better to get a 5 qt jug of it. I was planning on using duplicolor engine enamel.

Yes, but 5qt jugs. Don't buy that stuff by the qt.

Don't paint it. Polish it! You'll be the first and only one to do this. And the hard part is done already.

That is a 1st gen cover.
Valve covers are NOT textured like intake manifolds. They have a textured finish on them, but the metal isnt textured. So the job is started, but I wouldnt go so far as to say "the hard part is done."
And, it wouldnt be the first and only, but it would be the first in a while.
Ill look for pics. I got some of polished covers around here somewhere.
