Low/no coolant? Clogged heater core?

I assume the blower motor works?

possibly just needs a new thermostat. Hard to tell without you doing some diagnosing first for us, Check the rad fluid, make sure the fan is working, and take it for a drive, see if the temp. gauge is reading normally...

well we took it out again... it got hot... must have been a fluke... when she drove it the low fuel was dinging at her. doubt that has anything to do about the no heat. Coming this summer i gotta do the timing belt and water pump. might as well do the t-stat as well.

But did you check the coolant level in the expansion tank, and at the filler cap? (when cold)

It could still be low, and repeat the situation.
Once it gets hot enough (too hot), it could be dumping the coolant to the expansion tank, and not have enough in the system to flow to the heater core.

FYI, my beater with a heater blows hot when I'm not doing 65mph in outside temperatures of 10-20deg with windchills in the sub range

I thought my radiator was leaking, but popped new thermostat with nice thick seal from autozone fixed the leak. Make sure to top it off all the way to they top where the filler cap is (not the over flow)

yeah just check the coolant level and open the rad filler cap to see if the top hoes is full. seems like your t/s could be stuck open, you can tell by letting it warm up to normal operating temp and if it lowers below normal temp while on the highway for 5 min then its safe to say its stuck open. also if your coolant overflow tank is making bubble sound soon as you turn off the car then its time to replace the rad cap, it indicates that the cap isnt sealing right and air is getting in the system.
oh yeah side note if anyone replaces the rad cap make sure its an oem spec, our rads are plastic and it needs the cap to allow excess pressure to transfer to the overflow tank otherwise the rad will blow from the seals..

If my girlfriend had this problem it would go on for weeks and weeks... I'd be enjoying helping her warm up upon arrival at home.
