alright ill try to make this simple, lol. I got a 02 r/t with an srt4 swap. the person that did the swap used the srt4 ignition stuff. So with that there is two keys i have to deal with, one for ignition and one for door/trunk lock. Does anyone know if I can recode the door/trunk locks to match the ignition key? from what the dealer told me it may be a possibility as when you order a new tumbler from them all they do is code the tumbler to your key. Just wanting to find out if anyone has had any personally experience with this.

iirc you can reset your tumblers to work with those keys but you have to take them apart and its a pita lol talk to a locksmith they would be able to tell you for sure if they can be reset or not hope this helps

Any good locksmith should be able to recode the tumblers. Another option, that I have suggested, is to have them grind one side of the key to the exterior locks, and the other side to the ign. this will require a new key and it will need programmed, which if you have the keys already, you can do yourself. It depends on which option is cheaper. You are prolly looking at ~$100 to have the locks reprogrammed, maybe less if you remove them and take them to the shop.

Possibly the tumblers can be bought, and ground separately to match the key.

Ive changed locks before on my F350. two in the doors and one in the tailgate. I took them out of the truck and took them to a locksmith. $30 later all 3 were redone.

im gonna try scavaging some from the junk yard and use the tumblers from them. I pulled my igntion switch out and pulled its tumblers and wrote down the order they are in so hopefully that will work.

You will need to measure the tumblers, and match the lengths. If they need ground, you can prolly just file them until the length matches. A cheap set of dial calipers will do fine for this.

The ones that I listed above are $1.50 each $18 total for three locks

If those are correct, it beats scavenging from the JY, unless you can find all the door panels removed.

Yes, you can redo the tumblers. The locksmith that I talked to said he didn't have them, and I would have to get them somehow. Or you can go around to Neons in the junkyard and find locks that work with your key. From what I've been able to find, it's 1 in 3. Pretty good odds, but sad if you wanna steal someone's car.

got them done today. went to the junkyard first and found four locks. like i said earlier since i pulled my ignition i knew the tumbler sequence i needed. out of the four locks i got i almost had enough tumblers to recode my door and trunk locks. I had to go to a lock smith and get one tumbler. In total it cost me $28 to recode my locks and that is with me getting other misc items from the junkyard. fwiw i know the tumbler numbers are at least 1-5
