2004 R/T bought it new... Was great until I hit a large wild hog square on the front license plate this morning. I'm hoping that I can pull a jedi mind trick on the adjuster and convince him that besides the other stuff that's screwed, the mopar lip came stock with the car.

248,000+ miles and going strong! Oh wait, that's the Daytona... with a different engine... and transmission... hmm... what was the question again?

149,000 miles.

And it wouldn't matter if the lip was stock or not. If it was on the car, and damaged, it is covered. Otherwise, I would not have gotten a new Kaminari front facsia. That's why you pay insurance: To restore the car to the condition that it was in previous to the incident. If the lip was installed, it was part of the car's condition.

Routine and preventive maintenance is key. I see no reason why a neon cant keep running past 200k, 300k, 400k, etc. Parts will wear out, thats a given. However even the two most expensive parts (engine and trans) are found in almost any junkyard in the country. Both of which would be cheaper then a car payment with full coverage.
So until the unibody completely rusts out and cannot handle anymore transplants there is no reason that a neon cant stay running.
My old high school shop teacher had an old (early 90's?) E150 Ford van with 800,000 miles on it. The only parts he has even replaced was a water pump and a tie rod end. He has every receipt of every oil change, fluid changes, tire rotations, wiper blades, gas, I mean EVERYTHING! And pictures of the odometer at every 100k mark.

Changing your timing belt is a lie. I sold my neon with 120K on the clock and stock timing belt - ran stong. What a trooper.

WTF Mat! You still haven't changed the timing belt?! Someday when you're at work, I'm gonna hijack that bitch and do it myself!

How it runs has nothing to do with whether your timing belt is on it's last legs or not. 120k isn't too bad, but man, 160k+ is playing Russian roulette with your valves.

If it is a non interference engine, it isn't a big deal. 3.0 Caravan we had at work had 189,000 on the timing belt. IDK how long it went after that. We sold it at that mileage.

Ive got 92k on my '00. It had 96 miles on it when I bought it.
The Ford has 151k.
Highest mileage class C vehicle I know of is my dads '89 Chevy half ton. The truck is all original (minus starters and alternators), and has just over 500k miles on it now.
My late grandfathers logging truck has just over 2 million miles on it.

Did your insurance company know you had the Kaminari front before yours was damaged? As far as the insurance company knows, my car is as it came from Chrysler, therefore they are only obligated to restore it to that condition. If this isn't the case I'll tell the adjuster that the lip is a one off made by the Bugatti factory just for my car and it cost $20k.
Actually, the insurance company already paid me. I took the car in and the adjuster calculated the body shop labor and looked up all the parts, the only thing she couldn't find was the lip of course. The adjuster added $100 to the estimate for it, so it was covered anyway. All totaled the car has almost $2k worth of damage.
