I know dealers typically give you a temp tag no matter what, but I should of mentioned this is from a private seller.

I sort of figured that out from the start. :D

If you were buying from a dealer, this would not even be up for discussion.

I personally would have just called the BMV, and got my tax dollar's worth out of them asking all kinds of questions.

But then we wouldn't be able to waste our employer's time.

Everytime I drive through there, the Highway or State Police are everywhere on the side of the highway, outside their cars, pointing their radar guns over the top of their cars like real guns. I'm not talking one guy either, I saw some crazy set ups with at least 4 squad cars. Never saw anything else that intense in any other state, lol.

I drove my SXT back from CT to RI with my current plates on it. In RI that's one way to do it. The insurance covers you JUST until you get it home, then you're required to register and insure it within 5 days. Did you ever call and find out?

I didn't bother to call, no. I have the car insured right now and bought the ticket to go pick it up next Saturday. I'm just going to drive it home on the Bill of Sale.

I leave Detroit airport at 10:30, arrive in Atlanta Georgia at 12:30, and then drive 11 hours home straight. Should be a fun weekend for me.

I was fairly certain with insurance and bill of sale, I'd be 100% legal. Did you guys ever get stopped for no tags?
We didn't get stopped, but we did have cops roll up on us while we were broke down in socal coming up I-5. They lent us a flashlight, gave us a jump start, and made a few nice comments on the car, then bounced. Also asked a state trooper for directions in FL at a gas station, and he pretty much said "awesome car" then wrote us a map. We were super lucky, considering we didn't hesitate to use the 550HP 502 BB for it's intended purpose during the 3200 mile drive hehe. Just texted my friend about the laws.

I've been stopped in a newly purchased vehicle...

Before I purchased the car I got the VIN # and put it on my insurance and printed out a card.

I had the bill of sale on me and the proof of insurance. I explained to the cop that I am traveling back home and that I will register it as soon as I get home.

All was good... just don't speed. It's not worth the ticket and you won't make up that much ground anyhow.

Now, PM me with the details... what is it? :)

Hell, the car is insured under my name right now
Card will be printed at work. I still have to go to the bank and get a cashiers check for the difference from payoff, and I'm good.

Don't worry, I don't speed anymore. I'm the guy you see in the slow lane going EXACTLY the speed limit, and this car has cruise just for that :D

Yep, the wife gets mad at me... if I "speed", I go 5mph over...lmao.

Weird, my PM box is still empty.
