You know that annoying "ding" sound when your check engine light, or gas light, or seat belt light comes on?

Well, I dunno if i'm crazy, but I just noticed my car's doing that at start up, with no engine lights on.

My check engine light used to come on because of my gas cap. Drove like that for about a month cause I was too lazy to buy ANOTHER cap since I was already on my second. One morning though, my light just didn't come on. Awesome!

However, that stupid "ding" is still present.
I start up, idle for about 5 seconds, no check engine light, and my car dings at me! All the time. Never fails.

I know the check engine bulb isn't burnt out, cause it's on when my engine is off, but the ignition is in the on/accessories position, along with oil light and seat belt light and gas light and all those.

Uhm, do Neons always ding at you when you start up, even if there isn't a check engine light? Maybe I just never noticed it before...and having my check engine light on for so long just made me more aware that it does that.

Mine did that. Never did pay any attention to it.

disconnect the battery for 5-10minutes and see if that helps??

Ah yes, I had no idea what it does!
It's hard to search the forums for a topic with the word "chime" in it, when someone else refers to the noise as a "ding".

Just hit the keyboard with your head alot when searching. Might yield better results.

Haha its all good dude, the search function is a little hard to understand. Plus with your problem it might be hard to search for the right keyword

I just hate it when people point out that there's a search feature. 'specially when I already used it

But the only thing you might find is a little lightheaded/blackout depending on how hard you apply your head to the keyboard
