battery suggestions

Post by ilpadrino » Sun Nov 27, 2005 2:08 pm

The car's battery is on its last legs. I need to get one sooner rather than later. Any suggestions? I keep hearing about Sear's DieHard (mostly because of their warranties). I'm not looking for anything special. An OEM equivalent is fine by me.
I also saw a name brand called "Champion." Strauss was selling that one.
Any ideas/suggestions?

I have a red top optima....before i had a walmart special haha, and it sucked (IMO at least, died on me after like a year). but i really like the optima, but they are kind of pricey for a battery :/

still id rather pay for a good one once than less quality ones 2 or 3 times over

i saw the optima at sears. How much do they run for the neon? If i'm not mistaken, i think i saw something like 89.99 but don't know which that would fit.

Other than the ability to withstand the freezing temperature, what other virtues does the Optima possess? If i were to get it, would it have to be relocated?

w/ the red top, you dont have to relocate it at all. I didnt relocate mine. i think w/ the yellow top you have to modify the battery tray to make it fit, or you could relocate it if you wanted

I would like to know as well because I have researched it and optima dosent make a battery for the neon or have an application in other words.......I guess we just have to go by CCA (cold crank amps)

I have a $40 ReadyStart from Wal-Mart and its been in my car about a month after I got it. So around 10 months with no problems. Take in mind, I have the white-boy stock stereo system. I don't bump.
Now if you got a system I would get one of those optimas.

Nah, i have no systems--which is why I wasn't at all interested in getting anything that's beyond stock BUT since this car was purchased used, I'd like to rid everything that the previous owner neglected and like to upgrade the parts.

'Pending on the price of the Optima in the local auto stores, I might get it.

i wouldnt get a red if you have an amp and like to sit a lot with the tunes on and the car not running. i had a small 100w amp for my rear 6x9s and it was a pretty big drain on it when i would just leave the tunes blasting and work on the car for hours :)

i have a duralast from autozone...i love the duralast batteries, i used them in my old neon and just recently bought one for my r/t. have never had any problems with these batteries and they have a pretty good lifespan. I think mine came out to $54.63 and it comes with a pretty good warrenty.
