Spark Plug Pics

Post by Knoxville_R/T » Sun Nov 27, 2005 3:51 pm

Well my car has seemed a little different then usual. So I decided to change the spark plugs. Well once I got them out I found them looking like this.
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetod ... F5NTQx.jpg

They are in the order as they came out of the car. Are they suppose to look llike this? Because the last set I pulled did not. The car did set all night last night and then i started it up for about 5 mins to move it into the garage. Maybe that has something to do with it? I don't know. Fill me in guys

notice the brown marks on the ceramic, thats why I have been telling people to get away from the champ plugs. What you see is the ceramic seperating from the base as I said many times.
The look of brown flared upwards is your spark and compression leaking... so you want to run champs again? this is why I say NO!!!

switch your plugs to NGK copper or Iridiums!!!!
Ive got over 30k+ on my iridiums, and have had no problems....

Are these readily available at local auto stores? Or only online like Howell or Modern? I'm coming up on replacing spark plugs and wires (along with the battery in my other post).

I have never had that problem with Champion plugs in over 135,000 miles so far. I think its how you drive your car and the load you put on it. Maybe racing has something to do with it. :)

NGK > ALL
and as far as changing the spark plugs..scneonchic id say go ahead and do it. it has been some time since the last one and your car will like you better for some new fresh ones :D they are only like 6 or 7 dollars so it wouldnt hurt to do it. i usualy change mine every 3,000 or so to keep them fresh. :P

Is there a difference between the iridums and v-powers, and if so what is it?

platinums degrade under forced induction app's. Thats why alot of imports are leaning towards the iridium plug.....
The platinum plug is suppose to be good for 100k miles, but in N/A ap's only. The iridium had no mileage tested, but its supposed to last longer than the plat under N/A use...plus iridium does not break down like plat's under boost...
Ive got my iridiums runing over 30k between 3 motors and 2 cars...

Well I know they sat that the plat's actually hurt Neons or well neons dont like them. But the iridiums are good huh.....even for N/A app.

Accel U-grooves:
I used them once, and returned them the same day I installed them. I actually installed them in the parking lot of advance auto, started my car, revved it a couple times and then the car started missing and backfiring. I yanked the plugs out to see 2 were fouled out already....

Thanks Black Rose. Did you ever determine the 89 octane test.
Also, does your recommended upper engine mount eliminate wheel hop, or do you like it for other reasons?

ok.....
One:
As many people have stated, its all based on experience.....
I ran a 2.2 a lil rich with Accels and they sucked, I ended up running NGK's..

Two:
On my R/T....driving like I always do, I got better MPG with 87 octane and Prestone 0-60 than I did running just 89octane.
The past week or 2 ive been running 91 Sunoco and ive been getting around 25mpg. I actually got better mpg with the 87 w/booster and the power was the same as 93 octane w/o booster.
Right now im running 93 octane KwickFill and averaging over 28mpg...mmm
As it stands right now, I get the same mpg and power running 87 w/ Prestone 0-60 or 93 octane KwickFill. Mobil or sunoco fuel was a different story. I used more Mobil fuel than Sunoco...but the Sunoco fuel makes the car run different, like a different animal. Agh, the best way to describe it is compare a Lamb to a BULL. The BULL has more ass Vs the lamb....

On to Three:
The upper motor mount.......
So far the best improvement was shifting, it seems a hell of alot more tighter. As for the wheel hop, its the same...
Im in the process of working on filling my mounts the CHEAP way... :)
I'm hoping on having it done this weekend, then have someone ask me for any results next week...
Rescently I just had my PS pump replaced, and my SERP belt tensioner replaced. I was tired of the PS growl, wich ended up being my Serp belt tensioner. Its pretty bad when you start your car, your baby and pride and joy...and all you hear is a PS pump growl....damn it...
In my case, it was not the pump....go figure....

all those black rings, are exhuast sute, tighten your spark plugs better and that shit wwill stop, has nothing to do wiht the brand.

i run champions all the time, did when i had nitrous too. never gace me a problem. an dyes ive run nkg's. ive even run beru 2 steps hotter, cuz i had them form my old allmotor car. spark plugs really dont change much, a good working cheap plug, is worth about as muhc as a good working pricy plug.

Yes but NGK coopers are cheap ones, and apprently they are better.

i change my own sparkplugs, they are tightened properly and ive seen those carbon marks.
