Hey Crew,
Heres the problem.
My car last may had 2 spark plugs crap out and it messed up my motor, so they changed all the plugs, wires, coil and re-flashed the computer because there was a TSB on it.
A week ago my car started to have a slightly rough idle. So i thinking it was cold let it warm up and it still did it. I changed fuel from 87 to 93 to see if maybe i had bad gas. No change. I took it to the dealer to be told that i had #4 Plug drawing too much power and it burnt up.
They told me to wait a day or to after replacing just the plug and wire to see if it would go away. I drove it for 2 days no change it got worse.
I took it to them and said no change. They Drove my car for 25 miles and emptied the tank said it was my muffler causing the problem due to not enough back pressure. I have had my Flowmaster 80 on my car since ive owned it and dont think that it would cause this...
If anyone can please help its greatly appreciated.
Thanks

tell them to show you in writing where thats mentioned as a possible problem. then ask them how its possible to run open header withh no ill effects, then remind them that flowmasters are a standard usage muffler for repair shops. then tell them youll be bring a copy of the mosley moss act, and if they further continue to harass you, youll see them in court.
i got a new tranny and several other tinhgs, (cats, coils) by doing that.

they always look for aftermarket shit to blame the problem on!!! i hate it!!! "you have lowering springs...thats why your engine shot a piston." i rememebr they tried to tell me my cold air intake casued my tranny to go on me. how lame is that. i mean come on how can an intake make a tranny go. i knew the real answer though....it was me driving it like i stole it. anyways i believe there is a law or something somewhere that states warenty issues and dealerships. somethin like dealerships have to be able to prove thats what caused the problem. or have it in writing with a test showing that is what lead to the problem. might want to look into it? becasue i am just going by what i rememebr hearing somewhere

lack of backpressure, thats funny. i guess my race car (500hp v-8 on alky) should be eating plugs every run.

definetly get them to prove why the muffler is causing the problem, and dont take some techs bullshit about it. get scientific findings from them, anything less doesnt count.

Well they said its not getting enough backpressure and causing the O2 sensor to think the car is running rich.
I told them that no way can that be with the way the 03-05 Neon's with the NGC work. Shoot i was lucky to get 3-5 hp from my muffler for 100 miles before the computer recalibrated everything.
Also why after like i said 24K later , since ive had the muffler on since day one start causing this now?
also what is this mosely moss act.?
I just dont want my damn engine to get messed up, but good thing is the 7/70 unless they try to screw me.
Thanks

about that warrenty. its only 3yr/36,000 miles bumper to bumper, after that it is powertrain and there is a deductable, i think its about $100. besure to get this taken car of before 36000 miles.

i went in complaining about noise from my bearing and the guy told me he could tell that i dump my clutch by the marks on the wheel studs, but they didnt even have the wheels off at any point while the car was there

they are weisels and will try to get out of anything if they can. there are good dealers and bad so you're gonna have to shop around and have a couple bad experiences like these before you find a good dealer that takes care of you and you'll be happy to give him your business every time...its a shame, coz most reputable manufacturers have hassle free dealers... my mom's bf's trim start pielling off his 05 passat and eventually it got caught in the door when he openened it and scratched it and tore off the trim. they ASKED him to come in to have it fixed! hats off to vw imo
