I need some dang suggestions. I like the look of the neon on Tein s springs. Ive hear good things about Eibach prokit and tokicos. I wanna do suspension SOON, and im prob not gonna do coilovers cuz i dont need THAT much adjustability, cuz i drive only on the street. Please gimme some pointers and maybe some pics. thx

As far as the springs go, i used Eibach prokit and its great, only sometimes do i really notice the difference in drivability, the handling is 100X better than stock, and i haven't even changed the struts yet.

I say just go with the prokit... I've heard nothing but good things about those springs and same goes for the blues.... never ridden in a neon with it though so I don't have first hand experience.

i got the Pro kit on Tokicko HP series struts (blues) very nice ride. has over 30K on this setup thus far...

how is the drop and handling? could i see a pic please? what did u pay for everything and where did u get it? i have a guy who has all of it new for about 500 unshipped. is that a good price?

Before you get rushed into new suspension...

What is the budget?
What is the goal (handling, ride quality, what?)

Because for instance, im planning on getting the SRT-4 struts (got em anyways), the Koni inserts for the SRT-4 struts (by summer im sure), and get the Hotchkis springs+sways for the SRT-4 (one of my next mods, just put on the sways now, springs later).

The reason for this: The SRT-4 struts allow larger tire size in all directions. You can put fatter and larger tires on without rubbing issues. I know i want a set of 225's once i get the cash, so changing out to the SRT-4 struts would be a worthy gain. Also, the SRT-4 struts give the rear purch for the rear sway bar. But so does all the aftermarket options, too!

I have the eibachs right now. They are great for daily driving. Now quite stiff enough for the Auto-X (IMO). Hopefully the Hotchkis will even it out a bit

So if its in your affordable range... the konis go for around $600 shipped and used SRT-4 struts can be had $100-150 shipped. Tokico illumina's, which is simular to buying the SRT-4 struts pre-inserted with koni's, but to my understanding, not as good (but definatly not bad!) is under $600 shipped.

So if in the long run you want to run big rims with tires that done make you feel every ant you run over, or want some truely wide and great handling tires, check out the SRT-4 style struts. If you are not concerned with this, Any base neon strut replacements will do fine.

i have tein lowering springs and tokico blues, great look, pretty good ride just watch out for bumps

im definatly planning on doin at least 17s, but prob 18s, maybe 205 or 215. so tokicos arent gonna work with big wheels? that doesnt make much sense. They accept the sways, so thats all good. if i was gonna spend 600 on springs alone id go for coilovers, and im not planning on racing so Konis arent necessary. anyways am i gonna have probs with big wheels/tires? shit

its not so much the wheel diameter as it is overall tire height. but wheel width may have an effect on strut choices

the stock 185/60/15 is 23.75 in tall

if you were to go with 18s and 215/35/18 tires you should be good since their height is 23.9 in tall.

if you go with 17s and 215/40/17 you should be good as well since their height is 23.77 in tall.

i know the 215/40/17 fit so i dont see why the 215/35/18 wouldnt fit. i believe 225 is too wide for stock size struts.

i just put 205-55 R15's on my setup... ill take a pic later.

i think 215 is the widest id wanna go anyway, thats like 7.5 inches roughly right? low pro tires for sure, to keep overall height down. anyone have 18s on a slightly lowered suspension with pics?

o no you suggested the ebay coilovers, orangelast doesnt like ebay stuff. which is fine, some people love it, some people dont trust it

If you have ever been in a car with these size of tires, the ride quality really goes down hill. You feel every pebble in the road! A 40+ series helps. 50+ and you really dont feel them. 60+ and your at about stock ride quality. But a 35 series tire looks great... just doesnt exactly FEEL great

I see what you mean, but will srt struts be able to handle a lowered suspension for as long as aftermarket struts? I need reliability and something that will last several years. I wanna do a low profile tire for the looks as well, especially with the big wheels. maybe a 45 or 50 for a good balance?

Well, the STOCK WRT-4 struts will last longer than the standard ones... but it depends on the setup, too. I was thinking of you looking into the Tociko Illuminas. They are adjustable so you can put it to great handling, or great ride quality, or tune in between. You can also find the used ones, and once they are pretty much blown out, get the koni inserts (about $600 for all 4). Then, youll have some of the best struts and in a timely matter.

Either way, its just a suggestion

Not only does the ride quality go shitty, but you're also going to risk destroying your bling depending on the road surfaces in your area. Around here, anything under a 50 series tire is asking for trouble.
