Need some opinions

Post by onebaddsrt » Sun Jul 03, 2011 4:04 pm

I need some direction/advice for some parts.
I have a 2004 SRT4, current mods are Boomba solid motor and trans mounts, a BFMIC, 3" dp and full 3" exhaust, a short ram intake, a dsp with the 93 octane canned tune, an thats about all.. I'm looking at a few more mods, and I've been looking at the MPx 3" o2 housing, but I've read the gains are very minimal for the time spent installing..

I've also been looking at the Megan Racing lowering springs, and haven't seen hardly any negative reviews of these springs..

I'm racing a friend who has an EG hatchback, with a built and sleeved 2.0l ls/vtec, a custom geared trans, and he'll be on street tires as well as I.. We plan to have a little run at the local 1/8th mile this coming Saturday..

Well, a question for you: What are you shooting for? Maxed out stock turbo or big turbo monster?

I'm not sure about the Megans, but I would suggest getting better struts.

Ported/Big wheel stock turbo with an externally gated manifold..... big injectors/e85 and a nice clutch.

I'm looking to stay with the stock turbo, maybe go with Forward Motions E1 later down the road, but right now I'm lookin to stay with the stocker..

I've kind of ran out of options with the stock turbo... Any other mods that are going to help much?

E85 is out of the question, there's not a station that sells it in Arkansas to my knowledge..

Okay, stock turbo... good power, nitrous... but be smart and get a proper kit that is safe. (rpm window/wot switch/etc)

My car on spray put a hurting a C5 Vette with heads/cam/bolt ons that ran 12.1 @ 118mph.

Only thing is... I had a basic kit with no safety precautions and jacked the motor up. =/

Upgrade the fuel system, raise the boost, and possibly add meth for fun and safety. You're really only looking at 300hp (give or take) from the stock turbo. I'd pass on the 3" O2, since the stock turbo really doesn't see much of a benefit from it.

I saw the Megans going for 120 bucks shipped from their site...

Would a bigger throttle body, or ported intake mani help the mid - top end any and would that be worth the money? I'm just tossing ideas out there... Thanks for all your replies!!

A few people have seen results from getting the Boomba throttle body and porting both manifolds. The exact figures I wouldn't know. You may also benefit from a Foward Motion WGA.

I would use an aftermarket wga but I use the Diablosport to tune with, and to use it and a heavy spring actuator would require a rescale, and typically wouldn't be worth it...
