Depending on where it went, I would be in for this as well. Otherwise I'm gonna have to go the ebay route as I don't have time to make one myself.

How about a metal splash shield for a CAI? I forget who had it on here, but I would totally buy one. I had to remove my plastic one in the fender well because it kept rubbing the filter and making that airhorn noise. After 3 years, it still hasn't caused any issues, but I would still like to get a splash guard of some sort.

May be able to adapt a 2003+ Stratus/Sebring battery tray for that?

Did those come in the fender I assume? News to me.

I would recommend putting the battery in the rear of the car for anyone wanting to relocate it. Unless the weight balance doesn't matter to you, in which case you probably shouldn't be moving it anyway.

The Sebrings have them in the left front wheel well. A PITA to change the battery.

The plus to this, is lower ambient temps: = Potential for longer battery life. It isn't cooking under the hood. (Even 1gn's have a duct for cooler air to the battery.)

Lower temps are a plus, but the potential for weather exposure is something to consider, especially with an aftermarket install that doesn't completely isolate the battery. I get the best of both worlds with it in the trunk, with the addition of extremely easy access. And now that I moved it out of the spare tire cavity, I can now carry a spare and/or groceries without compromise. Yep, rear is definitely the most worthwhile relocation IMO.

Well, I didn't say it was the best idea DCX came up with, especially when it does die, plus keeping the terminals clean is a minus. That, and it is toast in a front collision, that you may otherwise drive away from. The amount of bitching I have heard from owners of those cars with batteries mounted there, is a negative also.

As far as cold weather exposure, a battery with a good charge/condition won't be harmed. But like you say, if it is not well protected from the road salt/grime, things will turn bad quickly.

Trunk mount is the better choice, if the expense/time/skills to run the power cables cleanly to the trunk are available.

But if someone wants to put it in the fender for w/e reason, it was just a suggestion that might help. I would assume/hope it would be a smaller Gel Cell battery in that situation.

Those eyelids were built into the hood, IIRC. So in that case... sxxxt would need to make hoods with built-in eyelids! Yes!

He could make them to be a welded on by "a qualified shop/person" part.

But yeah, IIRC they were part of the hood.

Iv always loved how those guys welded hoods....I think they just used sheetmetal... I could make them they would just have to be good peices to where all u had to do is weld... If ne one in Indiana wanna sell a oem hood for dirt cheap so I could get these bab boys perfected....

Due to his selling privileges being currently suspended, the staff has decided to lock this thread.
In addition, Sxxxt would need vendor status to sell/advertise anything here.
