Hey guys, you all might remember me, I have been gone a SUPER LONG TIME. I have been focusing on school, since I am graduating this May! And been working hard to make money at my new job. I work for a dodge dealership here in hawaii! But I am here now, for a problem that has been stumping me for a few months now.

I usually cruise about 65-70 on the freeway. When I press on the brakes at those speeds, the steering wheel shakes, not small, but MAJOR! I only have 03 SXT snowflake wheels, but I dont think that is the problem.

I am going for new tires, as the stock goodyears that came with it is gone already.

So my question is, what could be the problem for the shaking? Is it normal, or should I get it checked out when I go in for new tires? Also, what kind of tires should I go with that will give me good performance while still retaining longevity?

i can guarantee its your rotors.... i have an 04 and i had to replace mine within the first 25k miles..... get some new rotors

Yeah, I'd say rotors, too. Go browse through the DCx database and order some new ones.

That was going to be my guess too...or maybe you need an alignment, and im sure the new tires will help alot as well.

Warped Rotors for sure.......

Alignment might be off a little bit, but you would feel that shake ALL the time, not just when you hit the brakes....

warped rotors, mine did exactly the same thing only it was caused by a malfunctioning e-brake which ruined my rear pads and rotors, and backing plates which ended up costing me about $400 after labor

welcome back and i will tell you like everyone other person on this page has. it is your rotors...you need new ones. make sure you get new brake pads with the new rotos so you dont mess up the new ones

Having been born and raised in waikiki and honolulu, I know the traffic. (H1, 2, and 3) It's definitly your rotors.

Thanks guys. I Dont think I want to go back to stock rotors, I want to change them and go to cross drilled and slotted rotors. Can anybody suggest any good ones on the market right now?

I hear powerslot rotors are good, Im about to put those and hawk brake pads on mine, Ive heard goosd thinks about them. I wouldnt get drilled though....they can crack a whole lot quicker than the slotted would. Never heard of slotted ones cracking.
