Post by speedyrb29 » Wed Jan 11, 2006 2:24 pm

ok i can get a hold of some 05 sxt front calipers really cheap and i was thinking of buying new rotors im just woundering even tho the calipers were for the front if i can out them on the rear of my 02 es and just wanted to know if i needed any other parts to do the swap. do i need to make a bracket for the calipers? and another thing i was thinking would it be better to put the sxt calipers on the front and put my 02 calipers on the rear?

in rear disk setups the rotor is a lot wider, because on the inside of the rotor hub you have teh e-brake pads that push against the outer wall of the disk just like the pads for your drums push against the drum, and then you have the regular caliper on the outside like you'd expect.

On most cars thats how its doon, but I've seen a few like the Z32's with a seperate caliper for the e-brake and the regular brakes. At least thats what I think it has two rear calipers for.
Justin- I have nothing but smart ass remarks to add.

Not 100% true. 1st gen parts will bolt onto a 2nd gen just fine. Ive got the parts ready to go for my swap, that much is already researched, BUT, the calipers are NOT the same. 1st gens and 2nd gens use calipers that are nearly identical but the difference is the banjo bolt. The bolt that holes the brake line onto the caliper. 2nd gens have much finer threads and the two do not interchange.
