drum to disc
ok i can get a hold of some 05 sxt front calipers really cheap and i was thinking of buying new rotors im just woundering even tho the calipers were for the front if i can out them on the rear of my 02 es and just wanted to know if i needed any other parts to do the swap. do i need to make a bracket for the calipers? and another thing i was thinking would it be better to put the sxt calipers on the front and put my 02 calipers on the rear?

in rear disk setups the rotor is a lot wider, because on the inside of the rotor hub you have teh e-brake pads that push against the outer wall of the disk just like the pads for your drums push against the drum, and then you have the regular caliper on the outside like you'd expect.speedyrb29 wrote:do srt-4 rear calipers have somthing for the e-brake another thing i was thinking would it be posible to put calipers from other cars on our neon like lets say viper caliper ?
Hey guys anyone knows if the rear disk brakes from a 2G stratus will fit a neon?

On most cars thats how its doon, but I've seen a few like the Z32's with a seperate caliper for the e-brake and the regular brakes. At least thats what I think it has two rear calipers for.rice_eater wrote:in rear disk setups the rotor is a lot wider, because on the inside of the rotor hub you have teh e-brake pads that push against the outer wall of the disk just like the pads for your drums push against the drum, and then you have the regular caliper on the outside like you'd expect.speedyrb29 wrote:do srt-4 rear calipers have somthing for the e-brake another thing i was thinking would it be posible to put calipers from other cars on our neon like lets say viper caliper ?
um.. 2g rear brakes are the same as 1g rear brakes. except on the srt4. same rotor , same caliper.

Not 100% true. 1st gen parts will bolt onto a 2nd gen just fine. Ive got the parts ready to go for my swap, that much is already researched, BUT, the calipers are NOT the same. 1st gens and 2nd gens use calipers that are nearly identical but the difference is the banjo bolt. The bolt that holes the brake line onto the caliper. 2nd gens have much finer threads and the two do not interchange.dawm wrote:um.. 2g rear brakes are the same as 1g rear brakes. except on the srt4. same rotor , same caliper.
