I bought some Hawk HPS pads and cross/slotted rotors for my 02 SXT and wanted to replace them over the weekend but Im curious as to what size extension would i need on my breaker bar to remove the center cap bolt to get to the rotors. 1/2 in? Thanks for any friendly responses =)

dude? after you take the wheel off, you take the 2 10mm bolts that hold the caliper on, out. once thats done the caliper will slide off. theres a retaining clip on the lug bolt so take that off and then you can pull the rotor off. thats it! simple!

so basically what you are telling me is that there is NO lug to loosen in order to remove the stock rotor? sounds good to me, simplier than i thought...ive never worked on a the Neon's brakes before - intermediate mechanic
thanks for letting me know!

never seen a set of brakes that did have a lug. my fiances beetle has a little screw just to hold the rotor in place while working.
front brakes are about the easiest things to do on a car. two bolts and off comes the caliper and then the rotor. the wheel acts as the main clamping force for the rotor when the wheel is on the car.
forgot to mention: a c-clamp generally works good for pushing the piston back in. remove the cap to the master cylinder, wouldnt be a bad idea to put a clean rag over the opening to make sure dust doesnt get in there. grab a haynes manual, they are cheap and they should have a step by step on how to do front brakes the "right way"

I know brakes dont have a lug to loosen - just the 2 bolts that hold the calipers.
I'm talking about but the main center bolt that connects to the axle, my mitsu mirage required this bolt/lug to be removed in order to remove/install the rotors - yuck.
thanks for the info dudes!! sounds simple!!
