Agreed... gone through several hoods and I've learned you get what you pay for in quality.

Figures......like anything else. I decide to keep the car and cannot find any parts I want on the cheap. I got some $$ coming in a few weeks though: TB, Hotchkis Sways, Reece's fog-lamp air scoop thingy, and the roll-cage I have salivated over for months........... :D
Hey diablo0, which hood did you end up with? Carbon trix? JSP? Fiber Images?RD? ISP? Uh...just kiddin, so much useless info in my head...

Been through 2 RD, one JSP and now on my Kaminari OEM

So, Kaminari has the best quality so far?? Issues with RD? Yellowing?Peeling?Blemishes? Dude I am SO intense about my modding you don't even F'n understand man! I'm insane about the C/F mods man! @#$%^&& C/F man! I'm crazy! (inside joke, remind you of anyone we know?? )

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I like my Kaminari and have gotten many compliments on it. The RD on the other hand... not so much. It fogged up and the resin or gel coat seperated from the CF on both hoods around the edges. Fitment wasn't bad but after a month on both of my hoods it looks like crap. JSP was alright but it came damaged and had cut edges instead of rolled. Kaminari hasn't faded, fogged, yellowed... nada... has a nice black trim around the edge to dress up the edges and give it more of a rolled look instead of just cutting it off.

I assume youre gettin CF 100% for the weight loss rather than the cool looks? You gonna paint the whole thing to match body? just curious.. I though about goin stealth but i realized that 75% of the reason im gettin CF shit is for show (yeah yeah i admit it). The weight loss isnt enough to make u anymore competitive unless u fully strip the car already and do everything possible to lighten it to shave .01 secs of lap/ET's (IMHO).

anyways, i guess the only way to get CF cheap is used. either its used good quality or new and cheaply made. you get what u pay for, especially with CF and body peices.

I've been lookin' at an OEM style SRT-4 or 2G hood for my car for years. I want that old-school MOPAR look with the black hood. and painted car, but updated. ie: CF hood with painted car. Kinda a modern rendition. Unless someone builds a CF intake I probably won't buy any other CF stuff cuz it doesn't necessarily make the ACR go faster. ( I know the valve cover didn't but it was 50% off and it was shiny!)

No breakdown at all scneonchic? I've seen some ricers with some horrible blemishes on their CF clearcoat. $6-$800 and the POS breaks down in normal sunlight? No thanks, I'll go fiberglass on the cheap. VIS has a pretty good rep. Its a long way away so I don't care that much. Righ now it's all about Hotchkis sways, a TB and possible cage.... :D :D

The clear started to haze a small bit, but the fitiment is nearly perfect, and w/ some buffing, and then later reclearing just for the heck of it, it looks brand new, even better than brand new

not to bee off topic (if i am), but what do u guys know about quality and reliability of carbon by design? today i finally got my eyelids (the right ones this time), and my inner sills. everything fit good and looks amazing. those guys are sellin cf hoods for like 900 bucks, anyone have one and see how good they last? i was just readin all the above and hopin my 'lids aint gonna look like sh** in two months... good luck grambo im gonna go for an oem cf hood/trunk eventually too.

ps SC whats the deal on VIS? arent they like top notch body kit makers for imports? where can we see their CF for neons? link?

ps2 check out carbon creations grambo, oem cf hood for 500, and they are good quality as far as i know. the front lip they make for the neon is sick too, but wouldnt look quite right on the stock front end (maybe).

I bought mine through a Nopi outlet here in GA though...it was pricey, like almost $700 but worth every penny.

CBD should hold up just fine. I have the eyelids, door sills, etc and it all looks great almost a year later. I have something else from them sitting in my room waiting to be installed, and the finish on it is very nice as well, Im not sure how old it is, but it is used. Im having it recleared before it is put on the car, but it doenst even really need it. Ill get back to you on how it holds up

How much does the average CF hood weigh ? compared to stock ? Ive not done awhole lot of research into CF (its to pricey for me at the moment)

they usually weigh about half or so, if youre talkin about average fiberglass inner CF hoods, but the true CF hoods are 100%CF and can weigh much less than that, even 1/4 as light. whats a neon hood weigh guys, 35lbs? dunno..
