i got an ip2 trunk and initially removed my springs so that it would stay aligned correctly. .

had it for about a half a day until it got annoying.

so i re-installed both springs.

now, on the trunk arms there are two holes. with the trunk open, install both springs on the hole closest to you.

on the car body, there are 3 holes. the one where the spring normally attaches, one right next to that one.. and one about 2 inches to the side (toward the side of the car). its a pretty big hole. probably a 1x1.5 oval. place the other end of the spring there.

close the trunk and hit the remote popper. trunk shouldnt fly up and smack the stoppers. it will bounce at the top once because the springs aren't at a stiff setting but it settles almost immediatly.

now, when you close the trunk. you'll notice its now raised up due to the spring pressure.

so on the trunk latch that attaches to the body (not the latch on the trunk itself) there are (2) 10mm screws. loosen them, and place that latch on its lowest point.

trunk should be a bit harder to close, but it will align, and you wont have to hold it open.

if it is too hard to close, simply raise the latch a bit.

I think I will try that when i have a chance. I originally removed both the springs when i installed it, then lowered the latch that is connecxted to the body to help aligned the trunk. it is pretty annyoing when you have to hold the trunk open. lol

I dont think my trunk has springs...it moves freely up and down, and i dont feel any resistance, compared to the one on my LA neon. the one on it I can tell has springs, because I have to force down the trunk, the other one shuts freely, if i dont hold it.
