I have decided that this is the best answer as to why I'm only getting 150 per tank, i only drive 6 mins to work and 6 backoccasional demons wrote:If the engine is not getting to temp, 15 mpg is going to be pretty average for short stop and go trips. the 41te won't go into overdrive until the engine is warm.
The GF's Sundance Duster (3.0 V6) only averaged 9 to 10 mpg when she worked local. I kept telling her to take the bypass to work, so it would at least get up to highway speeds, and probably up to temp.

That would certainly be a big part of it. You should at least take it out once a week and drive a good 20 to 30 miles, to keep the engine from getting gunked up.

I barely got 200 miles this last fill up, that still doesn't seem right at 17$ at 1.89$
I was reading around and I see that it's bad for the engines if it's only used on short trips and that it's just as bad as putting it through stop and go traffic
so because i only drive my neon a total of 10 miles/20 minutes daily it's causing it's bad performance?

10 miles should be enough to get it to operating temp in moderate weather. My commute to work is 16 miles/25 to 30 minutes, and I can still get ~300 miles from full to 1/4 tank.

I used to get around 200 miles per tank when I was tuned and running more boost. Got around 22mpg.
Now that I'm back to stock, I'm getting around 260mpg and 27mpg

Be sure to stay on top of TIRE PRESSURE !!neongirl87 wrote:any more ideas of what it could be guys?
I'm telling you, this car is brand new!
i have replaced everything you can think of
filters, sensors, plugs, etc...........
Neons are sensitive to improper tire pressure.
If you're driving around on tires that are down to, let's say, 20PSI, that is too low.... Even if they don't look like they are.
Note :
Overfilling tires, will lead to premature tire wear in the center of the tire tread.
Pay attention to the Max PSI, listed on the tire sidewall.
( I am not advocating filling the tires to the MAX psi, but it will give you a guideline.)
If you don't have a tire gauge.... It is a good idea to invest in one.

I think that's your only problem here. My buddy was experiencing everything as you. I had him read this entire topic post. The next week he got +300 trip full to E. He'd just switched jobs to somewhere in Irving from Garland. He used to work 5mins from home.neongirl87 wrote:Still Only Getting 200 per tank! That's 100 Miles LESS than most of yalls replies!!

Yeah, because I keep my tires at pressure all the time, and are new tires as wellakirony wrote:I think that's your only problem here. My buddy was experiencing everything as you. I read through this thread and I think maybe my miles per tank calculator needs to be re-calibrated? Ive tried entering all the irrelevant information that i have and I keep getting back vague numbers that make it impossible to compare the avg rate of fuel consumption of my current tank of gas with any previous tank or even with what other people are getting. I'm pretty sure its something with car because last week I filled up for $22 and today it was $28 even though Ive only been over 100MPH twice today. I'm sick of spending all this money on gas do you think there is a part that i can spend more money on to fix it?

Well I'm sure if I fixed those two things it would help a bit, I'm waiting for the temps to heat up as I don't have a garage to work on the car . I have a intake sitting waiting to be put in so That may help with some better air flow.. I'd rather not fix the Evap leaks though as It doesn't effect how I drive(gas is cheap I'm used to paying up to $70.00 for a full tank when gas was High and even with lower prices $48 on my other car) and I could use the money towards other things for it.
