High-Performance Dodge Neon Builder's Handbook
by Mike Ancas
Introduced in 1994, the Dodge Neon has proven to be a reliable and capable performer. Even in its factory guise, the Neon has a lot to offer. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon!
High Performance Neon Builder’s Handbook is your one-stop shop for all the information you need to get the maximum performance out of your Dodge Neon. This comprehensive book details everything including available Neon models, suspension and braking improvements, drivetrain modifications, and working on a budget. Engine modifications are extensively covered, including specific details about intake systems, exhaust systems, ignition and fuel systems, short-block modification, and thorough coverage on heads, cams, and valvetrain.

A helpful chapter on how and where to go racing is also included, as well as a handy source guide. If you want to make your Neon the hottest sport compact on the street, this is the book for you.

It is a decent book with some really good information for guys (and gals, Jaqueline..) that may have never been inside a motor or torn into a vehicle.
It is a great way to gain some confidence and knowledge about all this great stuff we BS about on this board.
Think of it as a Racer's Chilton's Guide for Neon Geeks.
It resides on my coffee table in my living room next to a book about Frank Lloyd Wright and another about The Art Center School of Design in Pasadena, Ca. (oh, and lets not forget the Thrasher Magazine Photo History of Skateboarding) All good reading for design/car geeks... :D

I have the book. its good, has some info but nothin super specific and nothin we havent been over a thousand times. great for a beginner though, and also a good read for anyone who might like to know a bit more about neons and their past in racing and motorsports.

btw this is an ancient topic, books been out for awhile now. all neon owners should own this book, simply because its written about our cars and is available at many bookstores nationwide. Saw it at Barnes and Noble the other day, and i was stoked. buy it for support of the community and the author if nothing else. good read tho

$12.95 is a killer price, I paid like $20 in the olden days.

maybe cuz it doesnt have the answers to any of my questions. why dont you try reading it (assuming you havent with this stupid post) so that you would know that it doesnt specifically cover 95% of the mods I plan on doing/have done. this book is more grassroots racing oriented, most likely cuz its written by a 45 yr old dude. still a great read.

so what your saying is that it dosen't cover the carbon fiber gas cap/door sills, eye lids....

relax, it was meant as a joke.... no need to be uptight.

i know it was a joke but it was a bit of a flame too. just cuz u dont like some of the stuff ive done to my car dont mean u gotta be a smart ass about it. I ask tons of questions because i like to learn, even if its useless knowledge that i might never need.

Why would I get blue balls if I'm getting rid of my sp00ge each time HAHAHA

But yeah... the book... I have it, no idea where it is. Everything is pretty basic, gives you an idea where to start and look for or what you wanna do. But I really like how the Mopar BOV for the SRT is in the suspension section next to the camber plates

I prefer the real thing. Why fight on the internet when I can just go to a local bling-boy hangout and kick some ass there....
